    Rate this TV.

So my old style 60" 15 year old Sony TV went out last week.
I need to get something to replace it in my man cave basement.
I went out this weekend to about 5 different stores and I think I am going with this 47" Vizio below. What do you TV guys think? I have a 42" Vizio in my upstairs living room and love it. Again for the money what do you guys think?

Ehhhhhh I hate Vizio, especially the models that Walmart get. I rather get a Samsung or LG. It will cost a little more, but is better built and will last way longer then a Vizio could ever dream of lasting.

FYI.......when you buy tv's from Walmart, make sure you examine that box. Walmart is famous for re-taping up returned tv's and selling them as BRAND NEW.

Hey, I love my Walmart Vizio!
But in all honesty I'm NOT a TV techie guy so I don't get too much into the specs I just like how MLB the show looks in HD on my vizio. Ignorance is Bliss.

Well I don't know about the Walmarts out in Cali, but when I lived in Chicago and northwest Indiana, those Walmarts, which was about 7 of them in a 50 mile area their Vizio's use to be a full 1 to 2 years older then the Vizio models that Target had.

Over all I find a lot of Walmart tv's to be older models then what you see at Best Buy or Sears. But then again Walmart specialize in low prices, so that is probably why.

Like the Samsung I bought from Best Buy a year ago, Walmart is just now getting that Samsung model in, where as Best Buy has moved on to the newer Samsung tvs.

You can't go wrong with that TV. Especially for that price-point

Got the 42 a month ago and I'm loving it. Some people are extremely sensitive to lag, I guess and have been saying it lags while playing games on it.

C0-sign. Getting 1080p and 120 Hz in that size at that price looks like a winner. No other big box store is gonna come close to that price. I'd still want to see it in person to be sure.

I bough the 42" version of that TV back when wally world first started carrying it. I ended up returning it a few days later. IMO, the picture quality was very good for the price point. That being said, I had a few issues with the set.

There is a smooth motion feature that attempts to add in a certain amount of extra frames, depending on the source you're viewing. It works great for video games, sports, and other live tv programs. Though if you're watching a blu-ray, dvd, sitcom, or movie on cable, you will notice a certain amount of juddering or jerky movement. You can turn the feature off, but the picture looks best with it on... so there is a bit of a trade off with that. Long story short, it's not that big of a deal, but it can be pretty annoying to have to switch the settings back and forth.

The other problem was that I noticed a small amount of input lag. It wasn't anything too bad, but it was definitely noticeable to me. I figure if I'm going to spend that much money(regardless of how good a deal the tv is), that I would just be better off waiting for another deal to come around for a tv that didn't have these minor problems.

I always viewed tv's as a major investment. So therefore might as well go all out on it and buy the best one that you can afford. That is why I buy Samsung and LG. Cost more yes, but it is worth it that is for sure.

Do you guys think this LG below is a better deal?
They just marked it down to $778.

For that size, price and quality, the LG is better. One thing I like about LG and Samsung tv's is that their box is narrow but yet well padded. Were as Vizio and Phillips boxes are way too bulky.

Oh yeah FYI, don't ever take a tv out of the box and drive it home like that because you can't get it to fit. If need be, go to enterprise and rent a van. Taking a flat screen home naked is a recipe for something breaking.

That's it right there. Sure a different brand is probably going to be better, but is it THAT much better? At some point you have to decide what's too much for an upgrade. It's not like you are going to have both tvs sitting side by side when you get home.

If your eyes can't perceive a noticeable difference why spend the extra coin? Save that money or spend it elsewhere.

If pricing is nearly the same, go with what your eyes are seeing. Wouldn't buy any tv based on specs alone.

They both around $778 right ? Might as well get the LG then. Honestly that LG is a steal for $778...that's $200 off. Where as that Vizio is normal price.
