Not all Walmarts have bright light in there store. The ones out in VT have low light and Best Buy have dim light. Besides you could always change the store settings on tv's most of the time, they rarely lock the settings down.

Re: Rate this TV.
If you getting a Walmart credit card you don't have to wait for the physical card to buy anything. Just apply for it at the register and if approved, it will tell you your spending limit right then and there. Then you could buy what ever you want in that particular store right then and there. They will just use your driver's license number as your credit card number.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Rate this TV.
Not if you applied for it online. But if you applied for it at the store then yeah you could have used your line of credit before you had the actual card.Comment

Re: Rate this TV.
I always say buy what looks best to YOU and within your budget. You're the one paying for it and will be using it. Don't base your decision on specs or the name on the tv.
If it were me, I wouldn't have even considered a LCD...LED, maybe.Comment

Re: Rate this TV.
Wal Mart NEVER has all of their TVs calibrated to how they should be and some even have non-HD feeds going into them.
I know this thread is a day old though and he probably got one already.
Different area of retail, but the PGA Superstores are not carrying Titleist, the biggest name in golf, because PGA Store wants to sell their top of the line golf balls for $35/dozen and not the minimum $40.Comment

I own an 37" LG LCD in the bedroom & the TV has performed very well. Mind you I don't game on it so I can't talk to how it performs while gaming, but when watching CABLE & MOVIES it does a great job.Comment

And 99% of them just be hooked up to a SD signal with components to a dvd player playing the Walmart 30 minute informercial over and over again. On the end caps sometimes they do have a tv hooked up to a blu ray player with hdmi cables playing a blu-ray movie.Comment

Re: Rate this TV.
For my wife and I it came down to Samsung or Vizio. You can't go wrong with either but we ended up with the Samsung. Price is relevant and pictures are awesome on both. Would stick with these 2 brands as I've heard there the best top 2-3 selling brands. Good luck.Frank Dawdy

Manufacturers have a part in this too. They don't want their products being sold for less then X amount to make their product look better.

To the OP: Personally, I would go with a 50" 1080p plasma (Panasonic > Samsung > LG). But I'm a movie fan and not much of a gamer. You don't have to worry about static images with a LCD. Plasmas give a better movie picture and the color black is actually black--not dark gray. And the question about Hz and motion blur isn't even an issue. Just the differences in the 2 technologies.
LED LCDs with local dimming is right there with a plasma in terms of picture quality though.
If you don't notice a difference or need 120 Hz, I'd probably go with the LG. You said it yourself that it looked the best. At the end of the day, that is all that matters.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 08-25-2010, 10:35 PM.Comment
