I was not a fan...I know people like "deep" movies, but I thought a lot of the symbolism was cliche, horribly so.

It was a little confusing, probably to "make you think" but I think it really just muddles the story. It's like Madden (to me) I know what they were going for, I don't feel like they got there.

That being said, can definitely see why people would like this movie.

I've let Black Swan sink in for a few days and I think it definitely stacks up with some of the best movies released this year. It's gets better the more you reflect on it--very layered.

Black Swan is a 2010 American film directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Kunis miles. The Black Swan, the first time in the world such as the opening film at the Venice Film Festival 67 September 1, 2010. The film was a statement limited in selected cities in North America on December 3, 2010 in 18 theaters. Black Swan has received favorable reviews, mostly of Film Critics. Film appears in the lists of many critics '10 higher than 2010. Also was featured on the film 10 in the American Film Institute in the year.

Just saw this and thought it was excellent. Natalie did absolutely fantastic. Her best performance to date. Excellent directing and shots too.

And thank you Mr. Aronofsky for that one particular scene.

I thought it was very good for what it was. I will say that Portman did a tremendous job for as Nina, definitely a frontrunner for the Oscar.

Not nearly as good as The Wrestler though...not even as good as RFAD. Maybe it's due to me not being as familiar with the ballet, but....

does anybody else think it's unrealistic for the ballet director to keep a someone like that as it's lead role so close to the actual show. It seemed very rushed and all over the place...sort of corny even how it was set up. I felt the ballet director and even Kunis' character was a bit cliche' whereas all the characters in The Wrestler felt real to me.

For those that watched: What do you think was going on between Erica and Nina?

Very weird mother/daughter relationship.

I'm sure there was some physical abuse. I have to admit I wondered about sexual abuse, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself that it was that bad. Then again, there's a lot of sexual tension in the film between the two. Very awkward scenes with the licking of fingers, lines like "Are you ready for me yet?" while wearing lingerie, locking a mother out in near self-defense, Nina having an awkward reaction to talk about sex.

Very hard to put together.

I believe that's what they were implying but I think it was moreso the pressure put on by the mother to becoming what she wanted to.

I think the sexual reaction was because of her coddling her daughter for much of her life. I mean, she was an adult still living at home being treated like a child.
