Re: Dark Tower movie AND TV series confirmed

This is my second favorite book series(Dune being number one) As has been mentioned, films and T.V. can never really do the novels justice, but I'm going to make a concerted effort to jettison my pre conceived notions and enjoy this new interpretation of the story for what it is.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I don't know if Clint Eastwood's son acts at all, but he would make one hell of a Roland.

Maybe for the second season of the television series set in Mejia.

Roland was much much older in the books. At least 40.

Myself, I always pictured Roland as even older than that, I pictured Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven (which put Eastwood at 61 or so, but realistically he looked more like a haggard 50).

Yea, I think Roland is easily in his 50s at the very least. The way he talks about his body, the aches, what he's seen, the man lived a life.

40 is not a good number. I forget how young 40s is today.

What about Viggo? I happened to be watching The Two Towers and he can definitely play the run-down badass well, so it'd be interesting.

                        Looking like Javier Bardem.

But, they are still in talks.

Ron Howard apparently seems so confident he is beginning to look at other roles, and he has already said he won't look to fill other roles until he had his Roland.

Read these books when I was 13-14, and fell in love with the series. Going to have to check this out.

Deadspin is reporting that this is dead.

The official word is all pre-production has been stopped as budget issues are resolved. No matter how you spin this, the September start date for production is no more.

Rumor has it that Universal no longer wants to support the production of the film and will likely can it altogether.

                              Crazy turn of events.

No issue here, with Bardem as Roland it was already dead tome anyway.
