Have it DVR'd but haven't watched it yet. I'd almost rather have it spoiled before I start watching it because the last thing I want to do is get into it and then have the big reveal be some stupid alien ****.

I watched it last night, didn't think it was that great, but I'll keep watching for a few weeks.

To me it felt a lot more like Flashfoward than LOST.

You're comparing a show's mystery and questions to two and a half seasons of questions on Lost? The show has only had one episode. Of course it can't even come close to the number of mysteries that Lost introduced in two and a half years. I'm not understanding this comparison at all.

After one episode of Lost all we had was a strange noise/monster, no one knowing where they were, and a lost signal in French.

The Event has a mysterious blast of energy swallow a commercial plane, mysterious people held in a prison, and a dad trying to kill a president because someone took his daughter.

I think the mysteries are about even after one hour (and Lost really had two hours to establish those mysteries above).

Nothing in Lost tied together. There was a monster, there was the signal, there was nobody knowing where they were, there was nobody coming for them, and quite frankly there was the awesomeness of Sayid.

All three of "The Event"'s...well events, are all directly related. The "they" are the prisoners, the people who disappeared a plane, and somebody who knows about the "they" staged the plane crashing into the president before he could announce the "they."

Basically the only mystery is "who is the they" and the president of the US who appears to be a main character is but 10 feet away from one person who knows and 100 feet away from dozens of his subordinates who know.

I really don't see how they can skate around that question for more than another week or two unless they go the lame 24 route and just don't tell you what some of the characters know (Lost did this to an extent as well). From a logical perspective, the president's next 10 minutes would be "tell me everything you know" and the women tells him everything.

The show's pilot episode was told almost entirely in flashbacks to two different time frames. According to Nick Wauters, the show's creator, later episodes will use flashbacks more to develop the characters. "There will be big reveals and big clues in each episode," he said, promising that viewers will not have to wait too long for answers to questions raised.[3] After the pilot aired, he and executive producer Steve Stark answered some viewer questions on their Twitter feeds, for example explaining that the fate of the plane will be disclosed early in the next episode.[4] The characters also have Twitter feeds, and one has a blog, truthseeker5314.com, which may reveal additional information.[3]

More flashbacks means no more viewership from me. I was going to give it a few more shots, but I really can't stand flashbacks as a major storytelling device.

I keep reading about people hating the time jumps, but Lost was based on flashbacks and very few people complained about that.

Well, I don't remember reading much about it, at the very least. Maybe that's why Lost lost viewers? Are you guys the same people that did not like Lost? Just curious.

I never watched Lost at all. I did try to watch later, but it jumped around a bunch of times and I turned it off. Actually, I think I said "People actually like this ****?" and deleted it off my DVR.

You would've hated it then. That makes sense.

I loved Lost, but the characters etc. just didn't grab me in this premiere. Lost was good from the start because it made you care about the characters and all that first. The mysteries were secondary for me.

I don't see how anyone could get into a show just to chase a mystery if they don't have ties to any of the people chasing the mysteries.

When Lost first started I hated the Survivor phenomenon and Lost just seemed to me to be an attempt to capitalize on that. I never tried until late in the series and after I did and bothered looking at what people were saying, I wasn't the only one turned off by the overload of random time jumps.

Everything in this thread is going right along with some reviews I read of the show online. Will likely be another failed wanna be lost show.
