Really? The reviews have been generally favorable: http://www.metacritic.com/tv/the-event/season-1

I think as long as they follow through with the frequent answers that they've promised (we're getting one next week already), this show has a great chance of sticking around.

I finally got around to watching it on my DVR. While I didn't think it was great it did keep enough of my interest to come back and watch the next episode.

One thing I didn't like was the constant time jumping...a few times I forgot what time period was being shown.

I liked it, but hopefully the show gets a little more streamlined after next week and goes "forward" with the story for the most part.

The "vortex" completely threw me off. Didn't see that coming at all.

Finally watched the first episode and I can't decide if I liked it or hated it. I don't like the flashbacks, but the show did manage to keep me watching. The ending was probably my least favorite part.

Guess I'll give it a few more episodes to see how it goes.

I'm in the same boat. Leaning towards 'hated' right now though especially because of the ending.

They handled revealing the secret a lot better than I thought, though I really wish they hadn't shown the plane disappearing in the previews.

That said, is there any chance the "evil" adviser isn't one of "them"?

The evil advisor? Do you mean Blake Sterling?

I guess it's possible. We should probably assume that 1944(?) is not the first time they visited. Perhaps, Sterling was part of a previous expedition? Maybe he has reasons to eliminate the '44 passengers? It's a good assumption.

I thought this second episode was better than the first. The time jumps obviously bother some people, but I like knowing that the creative team actually thought all of this stuff through.

By the way: Željko Ivanek is the main reason I will continue to watch this show. One of my favorite tv actors.

show is alright. I don't like how the flashbacks are sequenced, it jumps around too much to follow easily. feel like it's trying to do more of a memento kind of thing but again too jumpy.

I was interested after the first season but seeing the aliens so early and the aliens actually being human bummed me out.

O and this show is incredibly predictable. I would be really surprised if the show lasts longer then two seasons.

I hated 24 but like Lost...this show is kinda in between but has one GREAT thing going for it...

My wife and I just watched the first two episodes off the DVR and while the large time jumps were a bit jarring, I like it and my wife is trending towards liking it as well.

I never watched '24' but we were die hard Losties, so a show like this (along with 'Fringe' and 'V') should fill our drama needs.

After watching the ridiculousness of the first 15 minutes of Episode 3, I turned it off.

It's Prison Break on crack. I can't watch a show that stoops to that level to provide shock value.

Not saying dumb people can only watch the show, but I have no tolerance for those things. The show has been taking this route since the pilot. I couldn't stomach it anymore.

LOL totally feel you on that. I think the worst part about this show is the title. "The Event." And the way they mentioned "the event" in the dialogue in the first episode had me laughing out loud, just a joke. I mean come on....hollywood needs to start doing better than "The (Blank)" for all of their movies and shows. This has been killing me for like 2 years now since there was a string of movies all called The (Blank)

I don't have much else to watch on Mondays though besides MNF...so this may get a couple more episodes from me just to see the girl character...then I'll move on during basebally playoffs and NBA season and never miss it

I don't watch on-air television except for sports. There are many seasons of other shows I still need to watch so I think I'll be fine. It goes without saying that my The Event subscription on Hulu has been deleted.

I'm sure the show has exciting moments (it does), but I've learned that when a show takes the writing direction this one has taken, it never changes. I simply can't watch shows written like this.

I watched the first 2 episodes and the writing and acting is pretty bad, but the underlying story may be pretty decent.

It feels bush league for the amount of hype it has gotten. Remember the first season of Lost, how **** some of that filming was(before the writing went to hekk and they started designing land of the lost playsets to film in). I was expecting that type of quality, but this fails to deliver.

I'll watch episode 3 this week sometime.
