That is because Jim looked like a robot! I mean dead on as one of those robot looks like and move. That is one talented man. Justin did good at it too. The skit is stupid. It needs better writers. But with the talent the actors can do with it. I think it can be a lot better.

As for the show, it delivered as I've come to expect a from a Timberlake-hosted show. I'm not a fan of his music, but it's hard not to be a fan of him. He doesn't take himself too seriously, has surprisingly good comedic timing, and when it comes to acting, he actually makes an effort at doing it well, even losing a bunch of weight for Social Network to make himself look younger.
Much better actor than a musician IMO.

I think he's equally talented. Maybe you don't like his music, though, which I can respect. But, dude can sing. Maybe not the best voice, but he isn't computers and technology.

Anyway, I doubt it really matters to him. He's gotta know that his time as a musician is up. These things end so transitioning to a movie career is the next logical step.

Top 5 episodes of the season:

          1. Timberlake/Gaga
          2. Eisenberg/Minaj
          3. Galifianakis/Jessie J
          4. Rudd/McCartney
          5. Hamm/Rihanna

I didn't like the fact Jay Pharoah received the smallest amount of screentime out of any cast member. I hope Armisen leaves so Pharoah can do Obama. Abby Elliot also received very little screentime and I wouldn't be surprised if she's not back next season.

I might agree, though I thought the Hamm and Rudd episodes weren't great. I'm not a Paul Rudd fan though, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Hamm was pretty good his first two times, but something didn't click with me this season. But I don't know what I'd put ahead of those two on a Top 5. Carrey had some decent sketches, but overall it was eh. I remember liking the Scarlett Johannson episode.

Jay Pharoah doesn't seem too comfortable not doing impressions, which will hurt him. He's great at impressions, but got to be able to just play characters sometimes. Hopefully he got the first season nerves out of the way though and will be better next season, assuming he's still around.

My thoughts exactly. I was very underwhelmed with most of his performances. I thought the best one was the cold open a couple of weeks ago with him and Keenan Thompson. I would like to see him back, just because I think he has some potential and just generally like to see people succeed but at the moment I can't see him being brought back.

Wasn't really impressed with Pharaoh at all. Not even in that Cold Open. He looked unprepared to me (and that's a difficult thing to stand out in when lots of members seem unprepared).

Obviously, his impressions are great. Love his Will Smith and Denzel Washington. But is that enough? How many skits can you write with just those two guys in it? Right now, he's a one-trick pony and that's not good enough for a sketch show.

Recently bought the e-book version of Live From New York (same authors as the ESPN book) and I would recommend it to all hardcore SNL fans. I'm only on the 2nd Chapter but I'm really enjoying it so far.

I believe the book only goes up to 2002/2003. I wish it went up to present day so it could cover the last elections, the Ashlee Simpson incident, the firing of Parnell and him coming back, the birth of the digital shorts, Justin Timberlake being the go to host, etc...

I hope Jay Pharoah gets more play this year. Thought he had a so so year last year with the impressions but most of his skits he was in weren't that funny.

I'm thinking why doesn't he try to write up a Tiger Woods character or finally get a chance at Obama. I remember Keenan doing Tiger and that was horrid.

As for the rest of the opener, thought it was a dud. And I agree the singer for Radiohead was awful.

Can a mode change the title to Season 37.

I hated the season opener. Considering they had the whole summer to come up with material, it was really weak.

I wonder if something is going on with Jay Pharoah behind the scenes. He barely had any screentime last season and in the first episode this season.

Hopefully Zooey Deschanel gets to host.

I changed it to just Saturday Night Live since it covers more than season 37 and will likely continue to spill into future seasons.
