I watched some of Ben Stiller. I like Weekly Update and happy to see Zoolander debut a new look.

I also love Zoolander so I'm biased.

Wow that Ana Faris episode was awful. The short with Drake was the only shining moment for me.

I think I'm only gonna check out Weekend Update and Digital Shorts from now on. Those are more hit than miss for me at this point unless the host is JT or Jon Hamm or someone we know can bring it.

Emma Stone episode was okay. Nothing bad, IMO, so that's cool.

Les Jeunes de Paris was back, which I was happy about. Devil on Weekend Update was really good, and I thought "We're Gonna Make Technology Hump" was hilarious.

Someone Like You is my favorite sketch so far this season. Coldplay is my favorite band so of course I enjoyed the music.

I don't remember the last time they did a sketch involving Obama. Ever since it was known he was running for President, SNL has rarely ever made fun out of him. It's night and day between the current president and the last one in terms of sketches.

The "Password" sketches are always awful, I don't know why they keep doing them. And the Digital Shorts are played out.

I think it was just easier to poke fun at Bush because people considered him unintelligent. Most of the gag was simply about him being dumb.

Obama on the other hand has little to poke fun at. I do wish they'd make a ghetto version of Obama. Stereotypical filth but it's parody for a reason.

There should definitely be more material like that. I blame the lak there of on the actor they've chosen to rep him. If Jay was doing Obama, I'd bet you see some funny stuff.

See that's what I want to see. I think Jay could come up with some good Obama material if they actually let him do it. This could be a standout character for him and push his career forward. I don't know of a single viewer that thinks Armisen does a good Obama.

I've been bitching about Armisen portraying Obama since he started, so I'm with you guys on that. I just don't get it. Jay Pharoah's big thing is he does impressions...and we have a spot on the show that needs a good impression (or caricature). Why they don't make the switch is confusing the hell out of me. The only thing I can think is that they weren't sure if Jay would last on the show. Though giving him the Obama character would probably end up funnier, which would give him more confidence and probably carry over into other sketches for him.

Armisen's impression sucks, but it would probably be better if he wasn't still doing a "smooth" Obama, circa 2008. The real Obama hasn't been doing much of that, and it just hurts the SNL portrayal. If Armisen (or the writers) gave the parody some kind of an edge (as CMH said, even a ghetto Obama), it would probably be better.

Or if you're gonna do suave Obama, really push it. Have him hanging with Tiger Woods or calling up Bill Clinton. Something to make it less Presidential.

Both of you guys have good ideas for the Obama character.

Outside of last week, Jay is barely in the show each episode. This is his 2nd season, so it's obvious Lorne liked him enough to pick up the option on his contract yet he barely gets any screentime. After watching his stand up, he's really being wasted on the show.

I haven't heard any negative backstage stories on him either. Perhaps he's terrible at pitching ideas for sketches that involve himself.

I think it's hard enough to be a feature player and get your own sketches on air.

Vanessa Bayer has her Miley Cyrus thing going.

Paul Brittain does his James Franco but that's only during Weekend Update.

It took Pedrad a while to get a real shot in skits too.

This season for me has been pretty much a dud for the most part but last episode wasn't too bad.

I wish the Andre The Giant skit was longer, it started off funny and then just abruptly ended. It was like 2 minutes long! Not many of their fake commericals make me really laugh but I did during the mattress skit. That was hilarious when he was doing the worm while his wife was stone asleep.

The opening with the Muppets was good. I love the Muppets for some crazy reason and even after all these years I never find their shtick tiring.

The mattress skit was good. Seems like SNL is pushing the sexual jokes lately. I thought the technology one with Emma Stone was a tame attempt to do the same, but one week later they went full on obvious.

It just seems the show is too formulaic now. Maybe I'm just more aware but I feel I know what kind of sketch is coming up next and what to expect.

I also really hate it when they use a sketch so many times it becomes dumb and then they use it many times after that point. The kissing affectionate family is tired. It's not "shocking" anymore. It's just dumb.

I agree. That's twice I've seen the exact same Red Flag skit with Kristen Wiig. It wasn't funny the first time.
