Yeah I'm remembering now that Cork Sucker was more a tandem. It was just too amazing of a concept to expect anyone on staff to keep a straight face. Janet was laughing before she could start.

      Re: Saturday Night Live

I thought it was the best episode of the season. The Buble Christmas Album sketch had me rolling.

How about Tracy Morgan's blank face during the Christmas song ...

Nostalgia is a powerful drug. I thought the majority of the Fallon years were terrible, yet I was so happy to see the former cast members.

      Jan 7th: Charles Barkley/Kelly Clarkson
Jan 14th: Daniel Radcliffe/Lana Del Rey

Fallon, Fay era is my second favorite (keep in mind I started watching with the Ferrell, Cheri Oteri, Chris Katan, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer era).

The Buble Christmas songs were the best part of the night for me. Finally a celebrity singer sketch that didn't go with the stupid one liners.

For all the great impressions he does, Jay's Kanye is one of his worst. I do love Fallon's Bieber. Makes me laugh all the time.

Hulu cut out the monologue which is frustrating because it happens far too many times.

Really too bad Timberlake couldn't show.

Tracy's face during the Christmas song was classic. Also, it was pretty obvious that Chris Katan still shows up drunk or on drugs. Too bad. Someone needs to save him.

I was surprised Katan and Morgan were on the same stage together considering Morgan ripped Katan in his book.

After looking at the history of the cast, it's really hard to narrow down "eras" because their is some overlap. I would have to say roughly 97-04 "era" wasn't good which had people like Fey, Fallon, Ferrell, Oteri, Shannon, and Gasteyer.

I personally think SNL was the best in the late 80's-mid 90's when you had guys like Sandler, Spade, Nealon, Hartman, Carvey, Fairley, Myers, and Schneider in the cast.

I was surprised as well, especially when they seemed kind of buddy buddy at the end.

As for eras, that 97-04 range you spoke was definitely my favorite.

Same here in terms of when I started watching.

I've seen a decent amount of past SNL stuff growing when they would run an older episode late night Saturday-early Sunday morning in the late 90's (or at least my NBC did)...and I caught up on a lot of older stuff on Netflix about a year ago.

It's why I laugh when people say that SNL was only funny during ((enter whatever time period))..you watch the older ones and you still see it's hit-and-miss. Each period of the show has its' share of really bad sketches. It's too bad that nostalgia makes too many people immune to that.

SNL back tonight with Charles Barkley & Kelly Clarkson.

For a rundown of what sketches were run last time Barkley hosted:

We might see Scared Straight again but I don't see any of the other sketches playing again.

I hope not because the character ones were dreadful except MacGruber but Forte is gone.

I could see them doing Shana again. Not hoping for it though.

Thought it was a decent show.

Samberg's Santorum was a little lame, but that's usual for SNL's political impressions. If he could nail Santorum's look of frightened smugness, it would be better. (Same for Sudeikis' Romney, where he should be able to hit on the way Romney always looks like he's looking off into another room for some reason)

Barkley's delivery pretty much sucks, but it sucks in a way that makes it hilarious, at least to me. The Mayan calendar sketch fell flat, and I was confused at the sketch where Charles played a lesbian...because it went nowhere.

^^Agree. The Inside the NBA sketch was the best one imo.

I thought the Porn Awards show was the best sketch.

What cracks me up about Chuck is that when he hosts SNL he doesn't even try to hide the fact he looks/stares at the cue cards. Bobby DeNiro does the same thing.

I want Armisen to bring back the Billy Smith character on WU. Also please bring back What's Up With That.

Porn Awards was great. I forgot to mention Nicholas Fehn on WU. I rag on Armisen a lot...A LOT. I really don't think he's all that funny. But for some reason I've always liked Fehn. (and Billy Smith, as you mentioned) Fehn last night got bad when it turned into Seth Myers, but I like it in general.

Haven't seen Billy Smith since 2009, and before that, 2004. Wow.

...Fericito follows a similar timeline, though I think that character is better on WU than devoting a sketch to it.

It's going to be LDR's first National TV Appearance. I'm really looking forward to it.

Overall i thought Sir Charles was pretty bad. He was worse with the cue cards than Jay Leno.

I gotta say my favorite part was the Charles Barkley Postgame Translator App.
