    Re: Superman Man Of Steel

Has anyone read the Superman novel that came out a few years back by Tom De Haven? I am right in the middle of it and am enjoying the hell out of it.

I want the movie to do well because I'm a big fan of Zack Snyder but I'll still hate Superman.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Yup. I cannot stand Superman, never really could, but that Comic Con trailer really sold me on the movie. I was going to see it because I'm a sucker for Superhero movies even if I don't like them (except for Ghost Rider, **** you Cage) but the teaser did nothing for me. I imagine, for a Superman fan, the quick shot of him flying would've been a nerd-out moment but for me it was "Eh."

Now, though, I'll definitely see the movie. I probably still won't like Superman the character, as Jmood said, but the movie looks good.

He pretty much has one, maybe two, worthwhile villains and has been made so powerful that the stories boil down to someone being "creative" with Kryptonite. Also, this is relevant:

Like many arguments online, one side is backed up by intelligence and careful preparation while the other only keeps going because arguments just bounce off its stupid invulnerable skin.

While I don't have nearly as many Supes comics as I do Batman, there are still some really great stories out there. The voice over dialogue is paraphrased from All-Star Superman. Plus, I think there are ways to make him compelling consider he has all this power yet decides to protect humans rather than ruling them.

Man, if you guys are gonna hate on Superman at least drop some knowledge other than "he's too strong" and "I think he only has 2 good villains."

And most of the time, the same people praise Batman because he can beat anyone (even Superman) because he's such a genius mortal who, given enough preparation time, can beat anyone.

I don't care about "dropping knowledge" about a character I don't like and I don't care to spend effort finding something interesting about him. I don't like him because he's boring and barely has any worthwhile villains and I won't waste my time searching for the few interesting stories featuring the character.
