This will definitely be a day 1 purchase for me.

The Warner Archive Collection continues its rollout of fanboy-centric DC Comics properties with the December 11 DVD release of the much-requested sophomore season of the Alexander & Ilya Salkind produced SUPERBOY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON.

With its successful first season having secured its status as a breakout syndicated hit, the Salkinds initiated some sweeping changes for the show's sophomore season. The biggest of the changes was the arrival of a whole new Superboy in the person of Gerard Christopher. Bringing with him a fan's enthusiasm and delight for all things Kryptonian and aided by a writing staff that included true DC Comics superstar scribes (including Andy Helfer, Cary Bates, Denny O'Neil, and Mike Carlin), Christopher sent the show soaring up into ever-more super-heroic heights. Familiar four-color threats faced by our boy Kal-El include a now follicle challenged Lex Luthor (who makes Lana his bride decades before they did it in Smallville), Metallo, Bizarro, Mr. Mxyzptlk and Yellow Peri in this complete 26-Episode, 3-Disc Collection. Also starring Stacy Haiduk and Ilan Mitchell-Smith.

SUPERBOY: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON includes a fascinating array of guest stars, including 007 veterans George Lazenby (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service) and Britt Ekland (The Man With the Golden Gun) as Jor-El and Lara; Philip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice) as Brimstone; Michael Callan (Cat Ballou) as Metallo; Michael J. Pollard (Bonnie & Clyde) as Mr. Mxyzptik; as well as Key Luke (Kung Fu), George Chakaris (West Side Story), Richard Kiel (The Spy Who Loved Me), Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin) and George Maharis (Route 66).

Presented in its original 4x3 full frame aspect ratio, this release will contain all 572 minutes of the second season of this 1980s TV series.

Available via the Warner Bros. Online Shop, this "Made to Order" DVD will be shipped to U.S. addresses only. Although it should soon be available via other major retailers.

Watched? I never missed an episode from the pilot to the finale, even have the complete series box set. Heck I'm watching it right now on TNT. But I loved that Superboy tv series from the early 90's.

heh, I think i've seen an episode or two of that old Superboy show. IIRC it was slightly cheesy but played much better with the source material than Smallville ever did.

Season 1 aired in 1988 wasn't that great and the budget was low. John Haymes Newton asked for a 20% raise before season 2 and the Salkinds sent him packing. The budget was much higher in season 2 and he was replaced for the remaining of the series run by Gerard Christopher who IMO nailed the role. The series was canceled after season 4 for ABC's upcoming Lois & Clark The New Adventures Of Superman, who Christopher auditioned for and won the role of Clark Kent / Superman but when the producers learned he had already played the role he was replaced by Dean Cain.

The full length trailer hits theaters Friday in front of The Hobbit with a running time of almost 3 minutes. It also looks as if Viral Marketing started today with the launch of the website Deep Space Radio Wave Project It appears as though we're being encouraged to help decode each new interstellar signal as it is received. The goal is to mark off the correct spaces on each row to uncover a pattern of sounds. The decoding process happens simultaneously with a large set of users, meaning that the community is working at decoding these transmissions together. It appears as though each new interstellar signal is released hourly or even half-hourly, and so far 8 of the 10 signals have been decoded. Which means the 9th and 10th signals should be decoded some time tonight.
