Re: Superman Man Of Steel
With all due respect, that wouldn't be keeping within character or "today's" Superman.
I'm not saying he has to be surly everywhere, and you can throw Donner's Superman in some instances that's not hokey, overly colorful or saving a cat in a tree, if you will... you can tread softly toward that direction, but you can't take a complete 180 either.
Still would like a MoS sequel though, and if this is what Matthew Vaughn feels he has to do I won't try and fight it. I just hope he doesn't feel that everything needs to be so much different than it was before. That's what I think JL is doing at times, forcing things like "Hey, we can have fun and smile and provide comic relief!" It felt so natural in WW with Diana's fish-out-of-water behavior, so maybe they can do the same thing here, but don't change characters just for the sake of doing it after you've already established them.
On the topic of MoS, I was very negatively critical of this film when it first came out, but currently it may stand right on top of my favorite DCEU film. The action scenes are now the only scenes that I don't like (which is quite unfortunate) and although I find the Krypton prologue necessary I also like watching the film without it, but I really do like the Supes origin and the way he handles himself most of the time.
WW becomes too generic in the end for my blood, and SS has editing woes up the wahzoo. BvS Ultimate Edition saved that film, but also like WW it did not pan out at the end. All of the films really end up sitting in overall superhero mediocrity for me, but MoS continues to climb the totem pole little by little, even without rewatching it for quite some time.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Superman The Movie will always be my fave superman film. I just love the overall tone & feel with the epic music. I also love the the current version of Superman & don't think they need to completely go back to what the original was. Just combine some of the elements of Donner's Superman with the new & I'd be happy. I never want to see a complete rehash as I have the original that I'll always love. Plus Superman Returns already tried that & I liked it but it was time to move forward."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Superman Returns was awful.
MoS I really enjoy and so far has been my favorite DCU film along with Suicide Squad. WW was good, BvS Special Edition was ok. I really hope JL kills it.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Saw Superman The Movie 6 times in the theater when I was 9 years old. I have fond memories of that film. I still watch it from time to time. I have the Reeves Superman Box Set. The Movie and II are all time classics. III and IV oh boy.....pretty bad.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Well, let's face it. It was the relatively early days of starting to generate really good superhero movies. Not much followed soon after. You can say it was groundbreaking and paved the way.Comment
