ESPN 8 is upon us, unfortunately it isn't The Ocho

We've had ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNews, ESPN Classic, ESPNU, and ESPN Deportes. Now ESPN is launching an eighth network with espnW, which is ESPN for Women. It is starting out like ESPN3(60) but with plans to eventually become a television entity.

Hopefully this now gives them the medium to get crap like the WNBA, WCBB, and whatever other "sports" they show with ugly women off of their real networks.

I got excited for a second. Then I realized instead of replacing these sports on their real channels with something good like hockey, they'll probably just show more poker or muck it up with another studio show or five.

I know my hope would be they could add any sort of sporting event, from pro wrestling to lacrosse to minor league sports, but you are probably right, it will be Poker, Pool, or a studio show.

Hmmm, you might be on to something. We've all read something about the NHL and ESPN wanting to get back together, though just rumors. This could be a precursor.

...then again, you're probably right. More BS is likely.

The funny thing is that all of the above statements sort of prove that it IS ESPN Ocho!

I'll be in love if Gary Cole and Jason Bateman are their sports news anchors.

Not likely, with the idea of it being a woman's network this would be a great proving ground for ESPN's cadre of women reporters and anchors to hone their skills.

                  Agreed.

The only women's thng I'll somewhat miss being on ESPN2 is the fastpitch. I actually do enjoy fastpitch, don't judge me. Also I really hope they don't replace it with more studio shows and poker. Ugh.

Maybe it's not even women sports, maybe it's just sports for women [to watch]. Like they'll probably get some Laird Hamilton surfing highlights and some matches from Carlos Moya. If they're lucky they'll get IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon anchoring The Ocho and they'll be set for life.

I'm sure tons of people will watch this.

I'm still waiting for an EXPN network with X Games style sports 24/7. I would wager more people would watch that than are going to watch this.

I'd agree with that.....I am surprised there isn't an X Games-ish channel for that.
