Is that $500 total or $500 + taxes (so roughly $560)?

Have you checked out Vizio TVs? I don't have one myself but I know of several folks who wanted to save a bit from getting a Sony/Samsung/LG and were quite happy with a Vizio brand.

Got my 55" LG LM6700 3D tv today. The delivery guys put it all together (stand and all) and programmed the remote, the whole works for me. I got the feeling they generally did that as they started to without asking. That was great, but they did show up early (12:45pm) when I told them not to come before 2pm as my g/f was sleeping. Oh well, its all good. I tipped the 2 guys $23 between the two of them (all the ca$h I had on me) and they seemed happy.

We watched an IMax 3D special narrated by Jim Carrey about the ocean in 3D and wow...that 3D really pops. It's funny because my g/f was 100% against getting the TV but she loves the 3D and wants me to get more 3D movies, LOL.

Oh and we're good on the glasses front now too...we have 8 pairs!

Thanks again Gamec0ck2002 for showing that deal to me, it's pretty sweet to get the extra glasses and free LG 3D Blu-Ray player!!

I may have to look into that then.

Surfing through Amazon.com for 40-42" sets with 120Hz and found a few:
              A Phillips 40" LED smart tv ($550 shipped) http://www.amazon.com/Philips-40PFL7...=operasport-20

              Phillips LCD smart tv http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=operasport-20
One Amazon Market seller is offering it new for about $570 shipped

A friend of mine has a Phillips 42" LCD (not LED backlit) and it's quite good.

The Big Boys (Sony/Panasonic/Samsung/LG) will cost mid $600s for 120Hz in that size.

60Hz sets can be found for $400-500 in that size.

Walmart.com has several LCDs (and LED backlit) sets from Vizio and Phillips in your price range--slightly higher than Amazon pricing after taxes.

If you have a friend that works at Walmart, it'll save you 10% (as long as it is not on sale or clearance)

Glad the delivery guys took care of you and you're happy with the purchase. Make sure the gf doesn't take over the tv with Buffy.

Totally off topic, I was window shopping in Best Buy. The 80" Sharp LCD is INSANELY big ($4500). You could get a couple mid-level 1080p front projectors and replacement bulbs for that price.

Haha, she's actually taken it over watching The Tudors and those historical shows, she can't get over how much more rich the shows look from our old Samsung DLP. It's funny because she was so opposed to me getting it but she seems even more excited about it than me, LOL!

I would highly suggest stopping by www.slickdeals.net on a daily basis

Seems like there is always a good deal on a 20-24 inch monitor. I actually got a 23" Acer 1080p monitor for $80 a few months ago.

With your budget, you'll have a lot to choose from. Just depends on if you have a preference for a particular brand.

This Planar 27" 1080p monitor is normally $469, but is only $210 with free shipping using the code (from Dell): HDX6R45LRKLWW4 (Note: This monitor has a 3 year warranty)

I think I've decided on this TV:

Good Price and Good size but thought I would post here to get some opinions.

Not that they have poor blacks, but they are comparatively behind. Not something you would notice if you don't have anything to compare it to I guess, though.

I shouldn't speak too much about the blacks on the new E series though, because the 51" E-blacks are probably superior to the 59"/64" D-blacks.

Maybe it's just me but does that set have a limited number of inputs...only 2 HDMI and no dedicated PC input? I guess it's a non-issue if connecting to a AVR.

Looking to pick up a 42" LED/LCD. I really like Sony (I have a 60" Sony Bravia that I love) and have looked at Samsung, but I noticed that the LG's get good reviews. What are folks thoughts on Sony vs. Samsung vs. LG?
