I have thrown slides and just white slides for 4 days straight over night and during my work day. I ran screen wipe and pixel flipper and it has not faded one bit.

If I was only able to see the burn during white scroll bars or slides then I would not mind so much but when watching regular content that has the slightest white or bright back ground you can see the espn logo on the bottom right hand side and the whole brackets of top stories running from top left to the bottom left.

You really haven't given it enough time though, either. I did say dozens upon dozens of hours. I really should have said hundreds. If it's true burn-in, it's irreversible. If it's uneven wear, you can always restore it, but it still takes a very long time.
Yea I know what you meant by tons of hours. The issue is that I cant run the risk of doing it for long because of the return.

The guy was cool enough to allow the return as PC Richards does not allow returns of tv's over 50 inches for any reason once bought. They claim if there is an issue you must deal with the maker of the item.

I feel the only reason he is letting me is because I am going to drop another G for the Sammy.

If I knew he would allow me to return it say a month from now. I would throw 24-7 slides and pixel flipper for a month straight...But that is not the case and I dont want to do it and then it does not go away and I cant return it. It's my main concern.

I am pissed because I got such a great deal that I was going to use the other G to get my Denon AVR-4000

      Now I cant...LOL

Ah well. I need to get a new receiver myself.

Anyway, keep that WOW disc and run the pixel flipper every so often for the F8500. I ran color slides on that thing for the first 150 hours, then ran the pixel flipper almost every other night until about 300 hours. Now like I said, I do it like once every week or two for the heck of it. No problems and the picture looks great.

          Thanx for the info man.

One question, I hear that input lag is bad on the F8500. Even on game mode they claim.

I hope gaming is at least playable to the point that it wont ruin timing based games like FPS or MLB the show

It's pretty bad. I believe it was FW 1116 that made Game Mode a little better than 'unplayable' (they're now on FW 1120), but I'm not about to play The Show on it. I tried with MLB '13, and it just wasn't working well. FPS was okay, like Call of Duty because of its 60 FPS. I tried GTA on it though and I just don't think it's responsive enough.

I'll have to compare it to my 23" Sammy LCD that I've had since 2008, that I used painfully before I got my Sammy D7000 plasma (which is a godsend for gaming). I'm guessing they compare pretty closely though, which means you can surely use it but you'll have some complaints and it will take getting used to.

              That's crazy....I can't imagine having a nice, big HDTV I can't play a game on....

Can you not directly feed the gaming signal to a more capable monitor in terms of input lag....and connect that to the plasma so that the plasma is just mirroring what's on the "faster" display?

I think its response time itself is still visually behind. That's what input lag is in my book. In other words, in a game you actually swing as you press the button, but everything is at a slight delay because you saw the pitch come a little later than he actually did pitch it, etc.

Hard to explain I guess lol.

Got my PN60F8500 delivered yesterday. Waiting on new wall mount to arrive in order to hang it up. No buzzing and picture is amazing.

Game mode reduces input lag to a point where it's acceptable by me. Love it

That is a shame, you'd think by now with such a mature technology these retailers would know what to do. I still have my Panasonic G20 from when I started this thread back in 2010, so going on almost 4 years by end of this year. I still love this set a lot and the picture still holds up very well and I haven't lost any definition with the blacks. I even bought this as a floor model from Best Buy which sat on the floor for a few weeks before I bought it. The only retention that I get is when watching movies that are letterboxed and sometimes with games leaving huds on the screen. Usually that is only for a few minutes and then it goes away.

If and when I replace this set, which I've had the itch a few times in the last year it's due to getting a 60-65" set as this one is a 50". I know that Panasonic got out of the plasma business last year, but they said they are going to sell plasma's for another 2-3 years. Is that true? I hope that if they do, I can always get another Panny down the road or hopefully Samsung will stay in the game for a few more years.

Like what Blzer said, plasma offers some of the best blacks and really natural looking picture. It's the one thing that will have me come back to plasma on my next TV purchase unless LED really makes some huge strides by then.

Panasonic no longer makes plasmas and it's tough to find one. You won't be able to find one at a normal retail store, you'd for sure be looking online and paying a little more. LG and Samsung are the only plasmas for 2014.

Hi guys I have a problem that I hope can be answered. My upstairs lcd tv has a horizontal cloud like dark patch that runs from the bottom of the screen. What is the cause of this problem? The vid here is not from me or my tv but it is the same problem that my set has and I posted it to illustrate the problem. Thanks. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/bkohtZQ5SEM?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The person who posted that video said it might have been because of what they used to try and clean the screen with, maybe it's same problem for you? Make sure there's nothing near the bottom of the screen which could interfere with the tv(one of comments in the video said something like magnets from the home theater system?)

Try playing around with the TV display options too. Energy saving mode and backlight stuff might have an impact on the picture too? Based on the video, seemed like the bottom part just wasn't getting enough light, maybe something that could be fixed through the settings, or some problem like something wrong with the light inside the tv that prob won't be able to be fixed(unless you don't mind taking apart the tv at your own risk)

Ok thanks for the advice much appreciated. My set is sitting on top of my rogers box so maybe that could cause the problem. I have also used lcd cleaner on the tv as well but only once. I'll fiddle with the backlight like you said to see if that's an issue.
