I never noticed frame rate before if a game is 30 or 60 never been able to tell the difference how ever I just played ratchet and clank rift apart a few weeks ago for first time after the VRR update. I had played it a few times from start to finish before and now doing the same thing with Miles Morales and with VRR and like 70-100 FPS I can completely tell the different with miles even more so has its so darn fast the combat is.

Exactly how I felt lol. It's a game changer. It almost made Miles Morales felt easier than the first go around(even though it was on NG+). I don't even hesitate anymore, I go directly to performance mode. The level of detail benefits on quality mode doesn't outweigh the performance gains for me.

        Nice.

Anyway, my point was for people who do notice the difference anyway. I'm just saying that a 100" 8K OLED display versus a 13" laptop playing 144p content will equally allow somebody to discern 30 FPS vs. 60 FPS (if they can in the first place).

Yeah you should try playing on a gaming monitor sometime, night and day from playing on a tv.

Input lag is not really much of a thing any more on TV's so unless you are gaming on PC where you can get above 120 fps I don't really see the need for the monitor because I don't think any TV's go above 120

Samsung has a few TVs that are 144 hz.

Ended up returning the s95b. That tv was a complete disaster. From updates that makes the tv worse to the terrible motion handling to not being able to handle gaming HDR HGIG correctly. If you want to have an accurate picture it was very dim and felt very bright only for games. This tv reminded me why I don’t buy Samsung tvs. Went and picked up a 77C2 and been extremely happy.

Boxing day sale coming up on this one

Only $550CDN/$400USD for a 65 inch TCL Series 5 TV.

                  Worth it at this price?

Negative being that it only is 60hz and not 120, and is the 2020 model (which people seem to say isn't as bright a picture), but at what is essentially half the price (at least here) vs a series 6, doesn't seem so bad given a normal price is around $850 CDN(just over $600US).

Not sure you can beat that price on a 65" tv. Try looking at one of the LGs and Samsungs, see what the price is. They will all be similar in quality but most likely they won't have ever gone that low.

LGs and Samsung's for a comparable quality seem to be closer to almost double the price of what this one will be on sale.

Their lower end models are similar if not cheaper, but I think their quality is way worse too.

From what I've read, sounds like this one has local dimming as well.

I had this TV for a few months and thought it was good for the price. I didn't have any issues with brightness. 120hz not that important unless you are actually playing games that can take advantage of it.

LG and Samsung at this price point are gonna be awful

And even the games I do play, it's not online modes or anything if that's a reason people really want it for gaming.

Mine will be a for basement/sports watching setup anyways, so hoping this works out if I decide to get it/it doesn't sell out in a minute. Brightness I don't think will be as big a thing here.

Might be stupid question, but I've never had a Roku tv before.

I know one negative are the ads, but if I only connect to the internet sometimes (such as to install updates), can I simply just disconnect the TV from the internet when I don't need it and there won't be any ads?

120 hz matters for movies too since they are shot in 24p. There’s a reason they don’t make nice high end TVs that are 60 hz.
