once we settle in, and everything in order, down the line i could always move that 50 from living room to the bed room and upgrade to 3d or whatever at that time. i think those s30's will be great for us now!!
Like Game says, Panny plasmas are some of the best. You can't go wrong with either Sammy or Panny plasma.

Plus you'll need to get a new HDMI cable, unless you have a 1.4 already which can be picked up for cheap.

I think the S30's will be fine for you. Just make sure to break these in properly the first 150-200 hours and just be careful with the gaming during those first set of break-in hours. I was such a neurotic when I first got my G20 and was worried about every little thing. LOL! I have gotten so much better since then.

On AVS, here is the official S30 thread......and you can ask in there. There aren't many posts since many people have been jumping on the ST30 as their entry level plasma for 3D.

I did not see this Thread started so i figured i would start it. I do not own one but i was looking at this model vs the LG xxPZ550 vs the Samsung PNxxD550 as they are all in the $900-$1000 range (for the 50/51" models) I guess i could start it off with the basics then hopefully some owners...

Holy cow, I picked up a Samsung Plasma PN50C7000

For the bedroom today for $837 at HHGregg and this thing has a BEAUTIFUL picture. Much better than my 55" LG LED. I haven't tried the 3D portion of it yet, but wow, what a tv. It was an open box, came from the warehouse with a damaged box and they had it marked for $1099, and ended up paying just at $900 after taxes.

VERY happy with this. I actually think it may replace my LED as my main tv.

That's what I keep saying. I have the 63" C8000 which is a bump up from the C7000 and the picture is ridiculously good. I think the biggest difference from the 7000 to the 8000 is that the 8000 has a black filter and allows the user to turn off the "Motion Judder Cancellor". I watched part of one movie with the Motion Judder Cancellor set to "On - Smooth" and didn't like how it looked. It made everything look washed out IMO.

My family room is pretty bright during the day so having the black filter is perfect (even if I'm usually not home during the day to watch TV).

In any case, Samsung really did a great job with these sets. It's been 4-5 months since I bought mine and I couldn't be happier. Still haven't had one instance of IR on the TV either...and I've unintentionally let static images sit on the TV for as long as 45min.

3D is great on this thing as well. Just make sure to be in a completely dark room while watching.

From what I understand, Samsung fixed the Motion Judder thing with my set as well. I just need to apply the firmware update. I did some research, and the "fix" is available from Sammy's site.

The more I look at this tv, the more I like it. It's as thin as my LED too, which is awesome. The brushed aluminum panel is VERY slick looking, very aesthetically pleasing.

I did test it after the latest firmware release which supposedly fixed it. I only watched part of one movie that was on TV - "War of the Worlds" - and didn't like the way the MJC made everything look un-natural...oddly enough I felt it looked more jerky with MJC on than with it off. I've read other people that love it so it's simply a matter of taste. There actually is a way to make the C7000 have the same menu as the C8000 with the ability to disable MJC, but it's a service menu hack. AVS has the hack somewhere.

I definitely love the look of the TV. Very thin and love the clear edge that surrounds the display. Just a great looking TV aesthetically and in terms of image quality.

Plasma gives the best picture quality, IMO.

full array LED is a close second.

                      Would it be this one:

Instructions: - Turn off tv - Press Mute-1-8-2-Power in sequence - Once the tv is on, the service menu should appear at the top left corner. - Go to options - Change the model to c8000 - Press reset to factory default to exit out of the menu. - Tv will turn off and back on, once is back...

I've been reading for the past 20 minutes on this. Not sure I want to do it, but may do it. I'm watching Spurs & Grizzlies on the set right now, running back and forth between the bedroom & living room, to see the difference in the Picture Quality.

I swear, the Plasma is the MUCH better tv. It could be because it's the new toy, but seriously, this is nice. Blacks are very nice, speakers are better than my LED, remote is very functional, picture quality is just better.

Looks like I may now be a Plasma converted fan.

Do you think it's worth updating to the 8000 over the 7000? I've read through the thread, but can't make heads or tails of it.

Yes, that's the thread. Honestly, if you don't mind the MJC being on all the time, I wouldn't bother with the service menu hack. Those that didn't like MJC, are the people who ran the service menu hack. While this service menu hack is pretty easy, it's always a bit nerve racking to change something in the SM.

I've always read that plasma still has the best picture. I don't have an LED, but I can't imagine much better PQ than my C8000. Even after 4-5 months, I still say "Wow" when watching different programs.

Yeah, that's me. I don't know if its worth it. I don't really see the judder, so it probably wouldn't effect me much. I am curious about the Day/Night settings that it would allow my set to have though. I'm sure there's not a lot of other difference that I'd gain. I've never been into a TV Service Menu, and had never really planned on it, but if I can have a few more options that make since, I may do it in the future.

In the meantime, I've brought the plasma to the living room, and LED into the bedroom. Even for the 5" difference (Plasma is a tad smaller) I am able to see a big enough picture disparity to prefer the smaller set in the living room.

Will, plasma is the way to go man. When I first started this thread I was looking at LCD's and wound up with a plasma. I bought the 50" Panasonic G20 which has THX, and now that we moved all of our stuff back downstairs about 1.5 months ago I wish I had a bigger set. LOL! That extra 5-10" of real estate make a difference so I think my next set will be 59/60".

Glad you are enjoying the C7000, I've heard its a mighty fine TV. The C8000 that Mike has is very badass set. I can't believe too how thing these sets are and they are getting very close to LED thinness which is nuts for a plasma. I just can't see myself ever going back from plasma unless the technology dies out or morphs into something else. For the price and quality of TV, it can't be beat. We don't watch much SD, but plasma's do a great job at broadcasting SD signals. Plus, getting a 3D set is the way to go for plasma even if you do not use the 3D, because they offer the best 3D picture you can get.

Have fun man with the new purchase......I've had my plasma for 4.5 months now and my jaw still drops to the floor at times. We watched Die Hard 4 BD the other day and for a movie a few years old, it looked very good.
