If we had the extra space upstairs, I would not be getting rid of this yet.

BTW, which LCD did your friend get that had the issue with the panel/wall mount?

For a 55", how many feet should you be sitting away and how high should the TV be mounted to the wall for that size? I was reading that it should be eye level on the mount, but was not too sure.
I think it was a Vizio or Phillips. Far as the mount on the wall, all depends on the height of your furniture, because some furniture sits low to the ground and some sit high off the ground. But pretty much when standing, you want it to come up to your chest or neck on the wall, because that is about the eye level for you when you are sitting down.

For any tv, you should be sitting at least 10 feet away, that is if you have the space in your living room to do so.

Don't over think it.....all the matters is the following:

        1. Size of the area you going to put the tv
        2. If you going to mount it on the wall or put it on a tv stand
        3. Does your current tv stand support the weight of the tv you want to buy
        4. The number of input jacks, some tv's come with a lot, some don't
        5. How much you willing to spend.

If you want a plasma Knight in the 50" inch range you have 2 choices:

          50"
          58"

          Plasma's don't come in 55".

            Thanks guys....appreciate the reply.

Yes bfj...I was looking at 50" originally and then started looking at 58". I was looking at some LCD's and they must have been 55".

Prices are much better than I thought they would be.

My priority list would be similar:
              1. Budget (don't break the bank)
              2. Location (lighting and mounting are important to consider)
              3. Size (get a big as you can afford and have space for)
              4. Features (what bells and whistles are must have)

Note: Some people are brand loyal. You can miss out on some excellent deals if you aren't equal opportunity.

                      You got that $#!^ right!

I was thinking of going with the Panasonic Viera TC-P50VT20....(most lists for this is $1499...but not only do I get an unbelievable discount at PC Richards(uniformed service member)...but the guy we buy everything from there also hooks us up a bit more...whether it be more off...or warranties for gratis....
or the Panasonic TCP58S2....(same deal...the list prices won't effect me)

(this is for my bedroom which is 28 by 18......we have it set up for the 28 portion with the bed on one end and the entertainment center on the other end...we've been using a 40" monitor so the leap will be great no matter IMO)....the room although has plenty of windows...we usually keep it like a cave ...so direct sunlight won't really be a problem). I already have a Sony home theater set up...that's about all....Thanks!

                      Any thoughts?

I readily admit I'm a Samsung guy, but I won't pass up a deal on a Sony/Panasonic/LG if it presents itself. At this point, I still don't see a better deal for a 63" 3D plasma than the PN63C8000. The Panasonic 65" 3D plasma is very nice (TC-P65V25), but it's running $500+ more on most sites.

Still have about a month before I order so we'll see. Trying to order right before Xmas so the TV will arrive the week between Xmas and New Years when I have vacation and will be there to pick it up (internet order since prices at local brick and mortar stores are not as good).

Luckily my wife says get whatever you want. So I could get the Panasonic for more, but if both sets are nearly equal in most aspects, I can't justify in my mind the extra money for the Panasonic.

I'm probably going with the LG5400, pretty good deal at HH Gregg with a free blu Ray player and wireless adapter.

Amazon has this for $1400, not sure what the other places are selling it for.
