Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

I tend to think I'd be better off with a nice 1080p 65"-70"ish TV around BF this year....OLED or whatever, instead of going 4k.

We sit probably 10ish feet, or a little under, from our tv on the couch, so I don't think 4k will be make it or break it at this point, and I'd rather have good response times anyways.

Or am I completely wrong? Budget is a concern, but 4k just doesn't seem like it'll be hitting that soon with content delivery...

I love my 4k tv. I have a 55 inch about 9 ft away and notice a big difference. There is alot more content coming on Netflix and amazon prime.

Yeah, i'll just have to see what prices are....I'd really like a 65" or 70" tv, that's what the spot on the wall can handle....not sure i'll be able to afford that in 4k and not sacrifice quality everywhere.

I don't know much about TV's, but have kind of had the itch to move up to 4k. Is this a good TV?
          http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55HU...LTRA+HD+LED+TV

I know that there isn't that much 4k content right now, so maybe it would be better to hold off for a few more months. Hopefully, by then the prices will be down some, but $1100 for a 55 in. doesn't seem bad to me.

I believe the Samsung 4ks have high input lag. When I was researching tvs that's what I recall.

The Sony 850b and 900b are great sets with all the apps in the world and decent input lag. I believe the 850b is at 40ms.

My old Sony was at 22ms so I do notice a difference playing the Show.

Best 4K TV for gaming is the VIZIO P Series. Lowest input lag of any 4K TV @ 17ms when using the 4K input.

Not to mention really good PQ due it's usage of Full Array Local Dimming

This would actually be my living room TV and I don't game in the LR. How is the TV otherwise?

edit: I just saw the VIZIO P Series that bigfnjoe96 mentioned and it's the same price as the Samsung... Is that the better overall TV between the two?

That P Series is tempting....plus i bet it'll be down in price over the next year

That's what makes the decision so tough... I don't need a TV right now, so maybe if I hold out a few months I can get the 60 inch for around what the 55 inch is selling for now.

Exactly. Plus I'm being cheap since I have to watch our spending, so it'll probably be a christmas gift for me lol

I'm holding out for a nice 65" or bigger tv...that'll be my living room tv for over 10 years at that point....won't really need anything better.

Then my bedroom is nicer, and guest room or kid gets a better tv.

Prices will come down so much on tvs that size for me right now though, so I'm way better off waiting for the holidays or even after.

So the visio 60" P series 4K TV is the overall warm and fuzzy? I am actively about to purchase a 4K tv and I am doing as much research as I can. Its between the Sony 850 and this Visio. If the Visio gets amazing performance and I get the extra 5" over the sony I am leaning towards the visio. I want to hear from the community who own it though please. How are the following:

                          1. Picture
                          2. Gaming
                          3. Motion rate!!!! I seriously watch football and baseball so motion blur is huge. This has 240 so that has me feeling good but you never know.

Going to give it a read. When I went to BB yesterday, the dude who is like the TV SME said a bunch of people returned the VIZIO Pseries 60' so it kinda deterred me away from it. Was looking at the 55' LG UB8200 120HZ tv

Plus there are lot of complaints with that TV set in terms of FW when I was researching the last few months. I went with a Sony X850B and never looked back after trying many different sets.
