Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I use warm 2 for everything...I use to be the cool color and dynamic color person before I tried movie and warm 2...I hated it for like the first 2 weeks and bounced back to the cool and standard modes that my eyeballs were use to..
Not until I got into videophile world that I start to tweak and tweak till it clicked and hired a pro calibrator who charged 400 to set up my old tv...He finished and I told him I hated it but he told me to stick it out and not change at all for 2 weeks...It was a tough 2 weeks but towards the end of the 2 weeks I started to not hate it or even care...He emailed me 3 weeks later and told me if I changed and I said no and that I did not bother anymore because i got use to it...So he told me to grab the remove and put on a movie. I did and he said change to cool and standard or dynamic mode...I tried and I was horrified at how horrible it looked. I switched back and forth and I hated the cool color. I can now see blue tinge even the slightest and I fix it...Warm 2 on the samsung along with movie mode or my mode which is Cal day and cal night is what my eyes love and I know that is what the producers intended to show....
Cant ever go back. When I put game mode on a new samsung set it defaults to cool or normal and I quickly change it to warm 2 and fix the 2 point gamma and color space and feel much better afterwards.Comment

In order to get over it you first need to acknowledge that you have a blow torch mode problem...Until you not ready to do that this horrible addiction will continue to consume you.

Have you all experienced this particular 'defect' with your unit:
I noticed this on my unit that I bought from Costco recently and had to take it back....I didn't realize how widespread it was till I found videos like the ones above....Complete bummer b/c the PQ was OUTSTANDING! But just couldn't deal with the fact that it would have this defect considering how much the investment was....But really happy with Costco's return policy!
So take a moment and check if you have this issue with your unit....b/c when I went to the floor models at Costco, I noticed ALL of the units had this issue, so I decided not to take a risk and bring another unit home....Last edited by PhiPsi1; 11-21-2016, 07:32 PM.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I'm not in blow touch mode, I'm use the settings now from rtings and they clearly say if warm is too dull and yellowish change to a cooler setting, sorry man but when I have my xbox on or TV and everything white looks creamy color thats not accurate my friend , it's just not . When I make it cooler everything looks much better. I have been doing this TV thing for years, I'm 38 so trust me I have had so many sets in my time, and I don't like warm at all, at least not on my new set right now.

My tv has this on the back on the upper right corner, but it's barely lifted as high as in these videos and it's not a big deal to me because I never look behind the tv. That said, I've heard some people complain about this on avsforums but it seems like some of the glue used wasn't strong enough. To me it's not a big deal since the picture quality is so good and like I said it's slightly lifted on mine. I'll see if I can take a pic when I get home later.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I have seen issues about that back plate coming off so I cant say I never heard of it but on my set is not an issue. I do have the 8500 model curved, I heard that issue mostly on the 8000 flat@NYGiants4Natic & KS8000 Owners -

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
That was actually my next question....
I was wondering if the FLAT 8000 has this issue....BUT the curved 8500 models do not....B/c if that is the case, I'm definitely cool with jumping on board with the curved model since Costco has the curved version priced the same as the flat version at the moment....Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Take it back, and get the curved 8500 if you can get it for the same price or lower. Different bezel should warrant a better resultThat was actually my next question....

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Further to this, let's remember we all see colours differently, especially as males. So there's no perfect setting. With that said, the rtings settings work perfectly for me and I just bump up the backlight on brighter days etc.

I would get the 8500 over the 8000 for a few reasons and one is def the back plate is done better then the 8000That was actually my next question....

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

I've had my tv for a couple of months and this shows it's barely lifted and I don't get behind the tv ever so I don't notice it. Personally I wouldn't let something that little bother me, but that's just me. Ultimately, it's up to you.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I have the 8000 coming tomorrow and I am starting to wish that I was getting the 8500 instead because it sounds more and more like the 8500 is better but I thought they where 100% the same out size of the curve and I think curved tv is just a gimmick and when I order the 8000 it was 100 less then the 8500 one was.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I have a question I was wondering about. I have the 8000 55 inch coming tomorrow and the stand I have in my room right now is just big enough to have my current 37 inch tv on. So any thing bigger is going to be hanging over the sides and from what I understand the stand that comes on the 8000 is at the end of both sides of the tv and there is no way to change that location? So with that being said can I just have the tv on my stand hanging over or because the tv is so small in the back like most new TV's is it going to be to flimsy to have it like that? Like will it not stay up with out the stand? If it is I am going to have to get a bigger entertainment for my tv to be on. I would like to not have to do that because if I got a new entertainment stand I would like to get like a 70 inch one but any thing bigger then 55 inch in my room would be to big.Comment
