QLED will be substantially more cost-efficient than OLED. I expect QLED to be hitting the mainstream market, but they will still have top-end flagship sets that will be more expensive the first year in.

Some people anticipate QLED to fail launching off of the ground though because the tech is not ready (blue-color QD materials have short life span).

You're right, my TV just decides to do 60Hz on it's own. How could I have forgotten that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I think he's saying is the TV is still refreshing at 120Hz / 240Hz (whatever it is native to), even if it is not displaying 120/240 new images every second.

Just like if you were watching 720p content on your screen... does that mean it is only being displayed on 720 horizontal lines of resolution? Of course not; your television overscans the image to compensate for the 1080/2160 lines of resolution that your screen contains.

Let me guess you are just another remote info button presser?

You see your tv showing 1080p 60p or 1080p 60i and think yup i turned off 120 or 240 hz if your tv refreshes at that rate right?

Or you have a nice new tv that nobody has that has a button that turns on and off 120hz? right

For the last time, If your tv is a 120hz or 240hz tv you cannot turn that off at all. Ohhh sorry you could when you press the power button and the tv turns off...So I guess you are right

Ohhh dear god....You are a remote info button presser

What your banner is showing is what the console is feeding the tv...Your screen if it is 120hz is then refreshing at that amount 120hz or 240hz

The info button on your remote just shows what is being fed to the tv....

Obviously that's the input source, the TV is still running at 120Hz but there's zero benefit to it. Instead of displaying a frame once, it displays it twice.

The only benefits are when you have TruMotion or ClearMotion or whatever it's called on, which causes input lag because it's interpolating frames that aren't there.

Outside of 3D, name me a benefit of a 120Hz TV? Ghosting and motion blur are pretty much gone on 60Hz TVs.

Either we are arguing something completely different, or we are just completely talking about the different thing.

Edit: This is for video games of course. As I said before, the Tru/ClearMotion thing is purely on personal preference.

The nickname "button presser" will always resonate every time I enter this thread.

                  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I can currently view Cyber Monday early access deals at BestBuy.com, and there is a 43" Sharp 1080p Smart LED for $179.99. For any curious button pressers out there, its native refresh rate is 60Hz.

Did I read correctly somewhere that Hisense tvs are sold under the sharp name for the USA. So anything Sharp is really Hisense?

I know Hisense bought Sharp last year, and I think this year's TVs are when the transition happened so Hisense should be Sharp - but I'm not 100% on that. I don't really remember how the deal shook out.

I have no idea I had never even heard the word Hisense until this thread lol.

Damn, didn't have time to go back for the Sony. They have this LG posted for $349 via early access. I absolutely hate how manufacturers are putting legs on outside of the TV. No inside position on this TV as far as I can tell. So pointless.

                              thats correct.

And for all the guys who dont know Hinsense, they are huge globally. I have there H8C 55" 4K HDR thatt I chose over Samsung and LG and I'm a huge LG guy, and its a beautiful set. Better picture then most known to us name brands.

I couldn't be happier. Plus a 4 year warranty out the box is clever too.

Also Hisnese bought sharp as we just said, also Hisense ranks 3 in sales and shipments globally last year, they are getting only noticed here in the states as of the last two years.
