re: Napoleon Dynamite (Animated TV series)

I hated this movie so much. My GF actually talked me into seeing it in the theater. I thought it was just your average bad movie at the time, little did I know that 6 months later every freaking tool at my high school would be quoting this thing to death.

I am surprised it took this long for these guys to make their way back to the money teet that is Napoleon Dynamite. How many bad movies can someone like Jon Heder make before he has to cash in with the only thing people ever liked about him?

I found Napolean Dynamite to be one of those movies that doesn't make you laugh, but is quotable.

I didn't laugh at all when I watched it one night with a bunch of people. But, afterwards, when talking about the film with others, laughed over some of the lines that were said in the film.

That's all it gets from me, though.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

re: Napoleon Dynamite (Animated TV series)

I love the characters in this movie. It's not that laugh out loud funny (though I still crack up about some things), but I just love the way that everything was written. I actually think that it was very well done, very original... but I don't know if a TV series will work.

If they continue with it though, I always thought it would be funny for Napoleon to pick up a tater tot in mid-conversation and go, "Well, to be honest..." and pronouncing the 'h' while smacking on his tot. I don't know why, but that always stuck out as something he would do.

Having been in high school when the movie came out, and listening to kids QUOTE IT INTO THE DAMN GROUND, I have no interest in this.

And yes, the all caps was necessary.

I thought the movie was hilarious. Just some funny scenes in it like when Uncle Rico and Kip are eating steaks on the front porch (which is funny in itself) and then Rico throws the steak at Napoleon and knocks him off his bike. And to make it even funnier, Uncle Rico threw Kip's steak Three funny things in just one quick scene.

A TV show though, never thought that would happen.

I like when he makes Napoleon and Kip sit down to watch the tape of him side-arming footballs from beside his van.

The show was picked up by Fox. It will be animated.

Good to know. Thanks. Sorry if I misinformed anyone, I was completely unsure on how this would go. Who knows? It might actually work out. It actually looks pretty funny already.

This show would be perfect if it had a South Park twang to it when transitioning to a new scene. I don't know how to replicate the sound in text but you know if you've seen the show.

Can a moderator change the thread title to Napoleon Dynamite (animated TV series)?

Speaking of which, how is Bob's Burgers panning out? I didn't know if I should look to try out a new show like that once it premieres.

This movie is one of those things that you either love or hate. I, for one, loved it and laughed the whole time the first time I saw it. I could care less if people quoted it a lot. It probably helped that I was basically out of college when it came out on that front.

As for the TV show, I'll probably give it a view, but I can't see it being even close to the movie. The movie is just one of those once in a lifetime things that clicked.

Apparently it premiered after The Simpsons Movie on November 25. Had no idea, but that's probably because I fully expect this series to be gone by end of May.

It will air on Sundays starting January 9, 2011.

It didn't come on in my area. It wasn't listed in the dvr guide so I waited until the Simpson's movie was over just in case but it went to local news.

The Simpsons Movie didn't even come on in my area. They said "everywhere but the west coast." We had some dumb TMZ show some on or something.
