I thought this was going to be a dark comedy, but it looks pretty serious.

Mel is getting screwed by living in this "celebrity blog" era. Imagine the garbage we'd hear from past celebrities in similar situations as him, if the internet was like this back when they had their troubles. Robert Downey Jr (who's actually good friends with Mel, as Mel helped him make his own comeback when nobody would touch him) would probably be hated, instead of making millions of dollars as the face of a comic franchise.

Behind the scenes of Hollywood, Mel Gibson has been helping celebrities going through drug/alcohol addictions for decades, since he's suffered from them himself. It all gets swept under the rug though, as they play these obviously fabricated tapes of him and some random woman he was banging. He still sounds drunk and crazy in them, yeah, but all of her dialog is clearly edited to make her out to be sympathetic. It makes me sick.

I just seen his last movie, Edge of Darkness, and it was solid. Mel still got it, people just won't work with him because he made anti-semetic remarks while he was wasted. And the ironic part is, the jews really DO run everything in Hollywood, lol.

Mel has always been the man. The Lethal Weapon series is legendary, and he has a number of other really awesome movies too. And his Simpsons episode is a classic. People can hate all they want, just imagine if you had someone tape recording you in your private, weakest moments, and how that would sound posted all over the internet.

Gibson's personal life is obviously going to be a talking point for this movie and all of his interviews promoting it, but I hope Jodie Foster doesn't get lost in the fray because hopefully this will open up more directing projects for her.

Damn... when I first heard about this movie being made with Mel Gibson, I was really hoping it was going to be this dark and demented drama. It looks good, but man, I wanted something that was going to really creep me out. Oh well.

So we are supposed to tolerate antisemitic remarks because the guy saying them is drunk and the Jews run everything in Hollywood?

I think Gibson, like Michael Richards (Kramer) was truly contrite about their outbursts and I'm still a fan of both. I liked Mel in Edge Of Darkness and and am really looking forward to this movie.

It looks interesting but jeez, I feel like I just saw the whole movie in that 2 1/2 minutes. I think that Gibson has been hurt by the microscope that is celebrity culture these days but a lot of it is deserved. That's not to say that I think he should be a pariah forever but he's had to face the consequences in his career for what has happened. As Jaybee said, it seems he's very contrite about everything and thus I still am a fan of the man's work.

When I saw a clip or two of this movie last night I thought it was going to be something like a Donnie Darko type film but nope...Looks a bit more straight forward.
