Why does that look good? It has no business looking like a movie that could actually be good! I want to see it.

Re: Mel Gibson's Comeback Attempt: The Beaver
I read the script nearly a year ago and it is hilarious. I'm not sure what Mel Gibson will do to the role, but I loved the story.
The writer of this spec is actually the creator of the short lived Fox series: Lone Star.
Anyway, the trailer pretty much does cover the entire story, but I'll make sure to watch it because the whole concept is funny. This grown man talking to everyone - and I mean everyone - through his stuffed Beaver."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Mel Gibson's Comeback Attempt: The Beaver
So we are supposed to tolerate antisemitic remarks because the guy saying them is drunk and the Jews run everything in Hollywood?
If you videotape or audio recorded a lot of celebrities while they're drunk, or high, you'd hear some pretty disturbing stuff. It's the era we live in, I don't listen to that crap. I don't care what celebrities do in their personal life. I might have a laugh at it, but it's not going to affect what I see on screen. On screen, Mel Gibson is awesome.Comment

Guys, I realize Gibson has a history, but lets not go down this path."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Mel Gibson's Comeback Attempt: The Beaver
I'm surprised how turned off I was by the trailer. When I heard the idea I assumed it was a joke, then thought it might be interesting, but for some reason that preview just looks awful. I'm surprised you guys see it the other way around. I'm not saying I'm not curious, and also not going to judge it solely by the trailer. I'll probly watch it down the road on netflix someday, but this was disappointing as far as trailers go. I was somewhat expecting a "death to smoochie" style theme.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
