I'll note that I really liked The Crazies, especially given how all other remakes end up being plenty sub-par. I never saw the original, but it was very serviceable. Anyway, I had seen it three times since its theater run and I just haven't been as into it anymore. Not that it would crack my top five anyway (neither did Shutter Island though), but I still wanted to give it some recognition while I can.

Yeah, I liked The Crazies, it was watchable, but hardly on of the top movies by any means. Same with Brooklyn's Finest for me. It was a good movie, even if too depressing, but not really top notch. All the movies I listed, I consider to be REALLY GOOD movies.

I watched the DVD screener of Black Swan last night. I'd definitely put that in my top movies of 2010, but I haven't seen a ton of movies that were released this year either.

            Re: Top Movies of 2010?

I love these lists, I always find movies I overlooked when I see a couple people mention them because I hate going to the theater and so by the time they're out on blu ray, they'll be out of my mind. Anyways, not in order, but just the movies I enjoyed:

            Kick-***
            Toy Story 3
Inception/Shutter Island (thought both were overhyped, but decent movies)
            She's out of my league

What comes to my mind when I think of 2010:

                  Kick ***
                  Scott Pilgrim
                  Inception
                  Toy Story 3
                  Machete
                  The Book of Eli

I still want to see Let Me In, Black Swan, and True Grit.

Wow, I don't get the love for Toy Story 3. Just saw it recently and while it was okay, it was definitely my least favorite of the 3. Way too dark for a "kids" movie and just didn't like the feel of it. It started out okay, but after that it wasn't. To each their own!

IMO, the best "kids" movies are the ones with darker moments. I want my kids movies to provide a basis of recurring nightmares and some kind of mental trauma that is the root of several adult emotional problems and behaviors.

I've never watched any of the Toy Story Movies. However, I think you may be in the minority. TS3 has a 99/91% on Rotten Tomatoes. I think that's the highest I've ever seen.

Oh, I know...all of our friends raved about it and even said they cried during it. At not one point did I even think about being sad, let alone crying. Instead I had two kids up with nightmares and was wishing I hadn't let them see it.

The first two are both at 100% for critics, however the audience ratings are much lower (83 and 72, if I remember correctly).

True Grit is at a 97%, so I have a feeling that one may be a late addition to my Top 5 of the year.

I plan to see Black Swan, The Fighter, True Grit and Rabbit Hole before EOY. Won't see Tron: Legacy until I catch Tron (sue me). I'm also disappointed I never saw Green Zone, She's Out Of My League, The Runaways, Holy Rollers, Valhalla Rising, Easy A, The Town, Here After, Morning Glory. Guh, didn't know how long my want-to-watch list for 2010 still is.

So, now my top ten (in order based on a vs. system of what would I rather see right now):

                              Toy Story 3
                              Inception

                              Let Me In
                              Kick-***

I haven't seen Toy Story 3 yet, but How to Train your Dragon is easily one of the best animated films of the past few years. Excellent movie, thoroughly enjoyable (90+ on Rottontomatoes.com).

                                In no particular order:

                                How To Train Your Dragon
                                Inception
                                Scott Pilgrim versus the World
                                The Town
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
