Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
I like the yellows the most, no idea why. No strategy involved in that either, lol.Comment

Hm. That's the same author as the one I have. They must have re-printed it with a new title.Comment

Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
Edit: I did get a book by the same author. "The MONOPOLY Companion: The Players' Guide". I remember I didn't get the former because it looked to be more about the history of the game and less about the strategy.Last edited by Streets; 01-12-2011, 03:37 PM.Comment

Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
Also, I see in the poll, the Greens still have the lead. They may appear to have the best "bang for your buck", when you crunch the numbers on the surface. But, you have to take into account how often a property is landed on, and how much it costs to build on.
I just found this online, and it's interesting. Below is a chart of how many opponent rolls it will take on average to break even given different developmental stages of all the monopolies. As you can see, the Oranges trump the Greens every time at every stage and are far and away give the best ROI (especially long term in later developmental stages). It's interesting information to look at. And I can officially never play with any of you now

Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
Just played a game of the World Edition on Pogo...pretty fun, but I did terrible. The only two I had monopolies on were the browns and then the two blues. I had hotels on each brown and 2 houses on each blue, but I kept landing on other big money spots and had to get rid of them.Comment

Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
Damn. I ended up buying three books used on Amazon (like a quarter a piece but 5 bucks each after shipping), and that's the ONE I didn't get, lol.

But much better statistical info is available online than is any book.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 01-12-2011, 08:13 PM.Comment

Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
I like the Greens, but they can put you in a tricky spot sometimes.
I prefer having the entire left side of the board, but I voted Orange. They are in expensive to build on and they do some pretty moderate damage.Comment

Re: Your favorite monopoly in Monopoly?
Fear the Greens! Damn your statistics! BW & PP can easily be jumped across. But there is nothing like seeing the look on your opponents face as he gets into prime position to roll a common number and possibly land on one of your Greens which you have painstakingly saved up to buy and build upon. A look that comes even you have that 3 houses per property upscale flashy sub-division appeal. Basically, it's the land here on my swanky, clean and efficient accomodations and enjoy your stay..... for slightly under the price of your soul and/or first born!! But, please, come back later..... and stay in one of our soon-to-be-developed Biltmore Hotels! And cash only please!Comment
