Sources connected with "Jersey Shore" confirm with TMZ ... MTV will say goodbye for good to the current cast when they wrap Season 5.

Although some big wigs on the show denied it last week, we're told MTV wants a fresh cast of characters after they wrap Season 5 -- which begins shooting in New Jersey Monday.

Here's the thing. MTV gets the best of both worlds. They can keep the "Jersey Shore" machine going by growing a new crop of much cheaper stars. And, as for the break-outs in the original cast -- including The Situation, Snooki, JWOWW and Pauly D ... the network has already signed them to spinoffs.

MTV could just make a show of the audition tapes for season 6 and make a entire show/season out of that. I can only imagine the types that will be trying to get on.

Changing the cast though will probably do more harm than good. It will become like Road Rules/Real World IMO. Which I no longer care to watch.

Exactly now your just going to get a bunch of kids trying to play a part. The blueprint has been laid for each role in the house.

Well...after I saw that Ronnie beat down Mike and was still sucking up to Sammi holding hands and stuff...I'm officially skipping the Italy season.

I've had enough of watching that crap.

I'm a big fan of Jersey Shore, but even five seasons with the original cast is enough. A sixth season, with a new cast of people that nobody has ever heard of, won't be as fun since the groundwork will be laid out for five seasons previously, and the new cast will try to be so over the top that it'll just be too much. I say do the fifth season in Jersey, where it all started, and then be done with it. It'll be a good way to end the show.

If they were smart they wouldn't change the cast. It should be like The Real World.

Doesn't the Real World change it's cast every season?

This isn't really the type of show where you have to worry about ending it the right way. If the new people suck, they suck, but why not give it a shot. Cuz I agree that 5 seasons is enough with the original cast. A lot of times it feels like 2 seasons was enough, but I still watch.

                            LOL this is funny -

Which fight?" Reader, that is a fair question. This is, after all, "Jersey Shore" we're talking about; it could be any one of the roughly 17 dozen fights the show has featured in its relatively brief run thus far.

In this case, the fight dates from "Gone, Baby, Gone," the tenth episode of the show's second season. The scene: The gang, minus Angelina, returns from the club to find Angelina in a salty mood. When Angelina complains that Snooki has picked up a guy Angelina had been seeing, insults fly back and forth until, finally, Snooki asks one of her roommates to hold her earrings, so...you know what that means.

But, as Reddit user ThePettingZoo noticed this week, the editing of this fight scene is somewhat curious. Check out these screengrabs, featuring J-WOWWW's amazing disappearing/reappearing socks!
This doesn't necessarily mean that the fight was staged. Maybe J-WOWWW left in the middle of it to take her white socks off so she wouldn't get any of either combatant's blood on them, but then her feet were too cold and she had to put them on again. Maybe the fight went on so long that the weather outside changed and J-WOWWW was uncomfortable, and the most dramatic moments of the actual struggle were cut together in the wrong order. But let's be honest: That the fight unfolded across more than one take is the likeliest scenario. (MTV hadn't responded to a request for comment as of press time.)

I hate to send you off on your July 4th long weekend with the suggestion that an art form as American as reality television may not quite live up to the "reality" portion of its name. Please don't lose faith in the genre altogether! Catch an "America's Next Top Model" marathon or something over the next few days, and try to believe again.
