Which GPS driving device is best?

Getting ready to buy one of those in-car GPS driving direction things. Anyone know which to stay away from and which are better?

I worked at Best Buy a year and a half ago and sold GPS systems among other things. The only advice I have is go with a Garmin brand GPS. Best quality and reliability in my opinion. You can't go wrong with any of their models from the cheapest to the most expensive.

The only downside to that one is that map updates aren't free. I work at Best Buy now, and every other week on of the ones with the free map updates are pretty cheap. I'd watch our ad over the next few weeks, because those map updates will pay for the device in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. I just finished downloading one. 2011.31 or something like that.

Just for an update for those interested. Just came back from a trip I had to make. 750 miles round trip not mentioning the various locations while at the location and I only have this to say about the Garmin and GPS in general. It's not the best, there's one thing better, Transporter Pads! But until they invent Transporter Pads this Garmin in the best money I ever spent. Put me to the door everywhere I needed to be. Only one time I thought it wasn't in my best interest en-route and even then it didn't send me some way out direction. Other than that GREAT device. I'm now spoiled for life. Will NEVER leave home without it.

Android phones with google maps ftw!

Granted, you have to buy the windshield mount.

LOL, that's what I have, though I've never used it. I kind of like dead-reckoning where I'm going (or just following the signs).

I'd go with Mayhem. Works really well.
