This guy is by far my favorite artist. I'm going to try to get Food & Liquor signed, lol.

Eh....I walked pass a few times this morning and it did look pretty busy. I dont plan on going. If it was at 5 or so when I get off work, yea but its cool though. But if you're around and you see me, give me a holla.

I would, but first, you say you aren't going to be there, and second I have no idea who you are or what you look like in real life, lol.

Re: Official Lupe Fiasco L.A.S.E.R.S. Thread

Just got back from the signing tonight... it was awesome! There was a large, large mob of people outside who didn't get vouchers, just hoping to meet Lupe.

My girl and I made friends with this kid while we waited in line. He told me he was just thrown in jail for putting his feet up on the seat on the train. Messed up, I know. The guy was so happy though just because he was going to meet Lu.

Anyways, they said in the beginning of the line that Lupe will only sign one thing. I asked if I could get Food & Liquor signed and they said "I'm sure it's fine". I was so happy.

I get to the end of the line, about to meet him, and they tell me "We're only signing Lasers here, nothing else". Oh well, at least I'll get his autograph. The lady takes my CD book and puts it on the table. As he's signing he looks up at me and smiles.

              "Is that Food and Liquor?"
              "Yeah"
              "Give It here, man"

He signs both and gives me the booklets. I marked out, lol. For one, everyone is only allowed one signature, and only Lasers. Lupe was mad cool. I thanked him for everything, and told him I'll see him at the release show and it should be fun.

As we're exiting, there was this DJ from WGCI who had 4 Lupe tickets to give away. I tried to get one for the kid I met. He said he was only doing birthdays. I told the DJ the story of him getting arrested. The DJ grabbed the guy and gave him a ticket. The kid hugged and thanked me (my girl and I already bought tickets the second they dropped). So, we exchanged numbers, and then my girl told me that Lupe was looking to sign my copy of Food & Liquor because the kid we met asked him to for me. It's awesome that we both hooked each other up and didn't even know the other was doing it. Just a great night overall. I have no regrets going through all the hassle to get there.

Edit: I'm putting in an order for a frame like this tomorrow:

Awesome story and nice job looking out for that guy. Even cooler that he did the same for you without even knowing.

I have to retract my earlier statements and admit that I overreacted a bit.

This album was disappointing to me because it seemed to be lacking the songs with incredible wordplay that leave you replaying it over and over trying to break it down.

But overall it is still Lupe with the same message, just more straight-forward and with more emotion.

It's a solid album. In my opinion doesn't come near the cool, but still a solid album.

Cool story, it seems that the stars don't care about these things as much as the people who run it or whatever. Like when I went to a charity softball game here, the NFL players only signed 1 item but Garrett Hartley signed 2 for me because my mom was in Tampa and I told her she started crying after that kick in the NFC title game last year

Thanks guy, yeah, I'm still pretty pumped about it. This morning I put in my order for a frame like the one above, only the album jackets will be on top, and the CD's on bottom.

This album was disappointing for several reasons. First of all, it's short. Second, two really awesome songs (that unfortunately never caught on as singles) were left off. Third, no Matthew Santos. Fourth, there are two tracks that I skip (I really like "I don't wanna care right now", so for me that's not one of them) on an already short album. Five, the overly autotuned production can sometimes get in the way and it's disappointing when you hear clean vocals on songs like "All Black Everything" and "Til' I Get There" and wonder why they couldn't do the same on songs like "Letting Go" and "Beautiful Lasers". Finally, like you said, the lyrics lack a certain complexity in the wordplay that Lupe is famous for.

All of that said, this is in many ways his most personal album. He really exposed himself a lot on this one, and I appreciate the straightforward honesty spilling all over this record. This really was one for the fans, and it sucks the reaction that it is getting. I've listened to the album non-stop since it's dropped and it definitely grows on me. People just listen to it and cast the whole thing off as "garbage" when this is some of the man's most personal work.

On to the next one! (Hopefully F&L2)

Hmmm Break The Chain is one of the songs on this CD that really stands out to me. Top 4 song on the album imho.
