Dude went gospel after finding God, so he won't be a part of a project I am guessing...but I don't think any FnFers will be minus Sarah Green seeing as noone was on this one :/

Gemstones is my dude. He currently has a project out that my peoples produced like a 3rd of the album. If yall feeling Lupe, yall should check it out. He's pretty similar to Lupe in terms of their subject content. Whats crazy is that he's claiming Lupe stole the idea for the song Lasers from one of his songs on that mixtape. I haven't heard Lupe's new album yet so I cant comment on it. For the most part, he was down with Lupe and FNF but they fell out at some point and he never dropped a album. You can check out the single they had dropped a few years back here.

As for me, I'm currently working on a indie music label and he's down with the team for our future projects. We also got Shyhiem from the Wu dropping some gems on us. Anyway, I'm just here to shamlessley plug my mans Gemstones since he's connected to Lupe and I know alot of yall in here dig the underground scene.

Lol, ever since he said he was going gospel, he's regretted saying it. Totally boxed himself in with those comments. He's since been promoting on the radio and had to straighten out those comments time and time again. Talk about a career killer.

If you check out the mixtape, its a mix of rap and r&b like what seems to be the trend in music nowadays. He's got a nice voice. For the record though and he'll tell you himself, he is not doing gospel rap. Just a thought that crossed his mind at one point during the creation of that mixtape.

It is just a couple of songs like the Trey Songz song, Break the Chains(which some people like), State Run Radio(once again another some like) and the bonuses are great. Some people were just expecting another album- a lyrically deep album about the world's problems and regular day problems of the down-trodden. But where the lyrics fall- the sheer sound of the songs make up for, they are entertaining songs with some interesting lines and all...and if this deserves a 2.5/3 rating...then why in the world is RECOVERY a 4...

Like I said...you shouldn't be rating the album on past Lupe albums or the problems that came about the albums, but if you are saying that THIS??? is what is brought after 3 years or how it divulges from what was the original mantra...it's definitely not on par with F&L or The Cool but it is a good album in its own way.
I'm really tired of people saying this. His past albums have absolutely nothing to do with why the reviews of the album are so bad. It's a bad album, not because his other albums were good, because it is not good. The production is awful and a majority of the songs are about nothing.

Look up Shyhiem on youtube. He has a ton of vids from a mixtape he dropped last year. We were supposed to have some tracks produced on that mixtape but he dropped em.

As for Lupe, maaannn, I just heard it yesterday and it is definitely nothing special. All Black Everything is the only standout on the entire cd. The rest of it is pretty meh. But I'll give it some more listens before I write it off. To much pop music for my ears when you cant but compare it to the Cool and F&L. I see why his label didn't want to release it.

So I'm saying right now as well as writing a piece for our site, if you want a Lupe fix, listen to Gemstones mixtape, On the Road to Glory: My Story. It sounds more like the Cool than anything. As for Lasers? I almost want to tell him I'm disppointed when/if I see him today at FYE. Naw, I'm not supposed to even have the album, lol.

This album breaks my heart it is so disappointing.

I bought it today and I'm already pretty much done with it, it makes me feel bad to listen to.

Reading his interview with complex makes it more understandable.

Yeah I dunno, guess I'm just a blind Lupe follower, but I'm still enjoying the album for what it is. As I said earlier, doesn't hold a candle to the first two, but I'm still really enjoying it. Not sure if it will have the longevity of those two albums though. I listened to F&L and The Cool for a year almost non stop. Not sure if I can do that with LASERS. In any case, still happy that I bought it. Hopefully if it's successful, maybe Atlantic will let him do his thing more? I dunno.

Like the review someone posted earlier in the thread stated, There is only flashes of Lupe's brilliance, personally for me it only happens in the song Til I Get There.

The only way I can describe this album is it is like wandering through a desert thirsty for water. And then someone finally gives you a bottle but there are only a few drops inside.

Well, I don't know if I'll get to meet Lupe tomorrow (I'm sure it's going to be a zoo), but I just got tickets for me and my girl to his record release party at the House of Blues here in Chicago. Should be fun. It's gearing up to be one of the best weeks of my life.

Sounds fun. As for that autograph signing at FYE, it can get crowded but never insane, mad house, zoo type of crowded. Twista did the same about a few months ago and it didn't get rediculous at all. In fact, there couldn't of been more than 40 ppl there for an autograph. But that's Twista. Not as popular as Lupe is right now. I got the pleasure to meet Twista and his manager before they went in. His manager was tryna holla at this chick I'm cool wit. While Twista was in this Maybach getting scummy.

I dunno. The guy at FYE said it's going to be nuts. 1300 people have RSVPed on Facebook alone and that doesn't include people bringing friends, or people like me who aren't on Facebook. And that was last we checked. Apparently, it's a 1st come 1st serve sort of deal and they're stopping at 500.

Well that says alot about Twista's fanbase, lol. You probably right tho. I know that he'll probably be there no longer than a hour. As controversial as this album is shaping up to be, it should be a good showing. I'm tryna get my man Gemstones to show up. At this point in time, he got legit beef with him.

Well, it was pretty nuts this morning (but the line was very organized). They handed out the vouchers when they opened (1st come, 1st serve). So, if you have a wristband, you can come back in the evening to see Lupe. I guess they went pretty quick, but my girl and I will be attending tonight. I'm excited. This guy is by far my favorite artist. I'm going to try to get Food & Liquor signed, lol.
