Re: Vinyl Collectors?
Its a blessing/curse that our local music shop closed about 4 years ago. More money in my pocket, but less opportunities to find those out of press ones like Demon Days.

Re: Vinyl Collectors?
The most recent pull had a very unexpected surprise:
------
Also, I had a sit down with my dad because I was looking to upgrade from my AT-LP90. I was looking for pointers and what to look for, but he said I could take his Pioneer PL-400. Quartz driven direct drive and everything, this thing was legit.
However, it was damn near 30 years old and shortly after setting it up, it was dragging, slightly at first and then it snowballed from there. Think the problem is with the bearings in the motor and I really don't know if it's worth saving. Keep in mind that it was just mere inches above flood water back in August and has been boxed up ever since, and the cables and power cord were submerged.
So...I'm back in the market and at the behest of my dad, I'm thinking of going with a belt-driven table, probably a U-Turn Orbit. I'm not looking for perfect audio quality, but the noise from the motor is more noticeable than I'd like, and I'm also trying to be reasonable with my expenses here.Last edited by Watson; 06-11-2017, 03:40 PM.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Re: Vinyl Collectors?
Those old turntables are legit. I would try to find somebody to fix it for a reasonable price (sub-300) before looking at new models.
Its been awhile since I've looked at turntables so apart from what I have I know very little other than belt-driven is typically the way to go 99.99% of the time.
You've also got to watch the cartridges that come with the lower-end units. They tend to be ****.

Re: Vinyl Collectors?
Yeah I took it down and put up my LP-60 so he can take a look at it. Going back to the LP-60 after the PL-400 I noticed how hard the needle drops when I set it down. It's really violent and not guided at all.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Re: Vinyl Collectors?
Those Gorillaz and Florence albums are nice. I love the range on Plastic Beach.
