I've always felt the opposite.
I loved growing up in the 90's (Born in '89), but my taste in cars and music leads me to believe I should have grown up in the 70's and 80's. I'm so much like my dad that I don't even realize it sometimes. Yeah, I listen to metal and a bunch of new-age stuff, but If I had to choose, I would take some Journey, Foreigner, AC/DC, Van Halen, etc. all day.
As far as the technology goes.. I played outside as a kid. My parents let me play video games (they had a NES themselves), but I wasn't allowed to until dark. If I was sitting in and watching TV, my Mom would look at me and say, "What the hell are you doing in the house ? It's nice outside.. go play". The thing is, that rarely happened. I stayed outside and out in the shop with my dad a lot. That's where I've learned everything I know about cars and how to work on some. He's the best mechanic I know. I remember riding a home-made go-kart my dad made, playing backyard football, and even something as simple as going and finding a damn stick in the woods and putting tape on it... kids these days just don't get it.

. Had a blast growing up. I used to play video games, but my desire has been dying down. I will be 40 in OCT. So I don't feel old even though I am getting up there in age.
