Re: Awake (NBC series)
Crime investigation shows aren't really popular these days. The most watched shows are The Voice, American Idol, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, Jersey Shore...
Crime shows can still get solid ratings though (NCIS, Criminal Minds, CSI, Hawaii Five-0, Person Of Interest, etc.)

Re: Awake (NBC series)
A couple of years ago, there was a point where crime shows were leading in the 18-49 category as well. CSI used to be much bigger than it is now.Comment

CBS doesn't care about 18-49 when it comes to their crime procedurals.
They only look at total viewers and mostly act the opposite canceling shows still grabbing 8-10 million viewers because they work in a completely different stratosphere.
Awake needs the 18-49 on NBC. But I think it's a show that should have been on cable.
I'd bet it'd get the same people watching, and be considered a hit as a result.
Kyle Killen needs to abandon network television. Two great ideas buried by complexity that network viewers simply do not appreciate.

It has nothing to do with viewership, because viewers only mean they tuned in on the show at some point. The ratings are what matter since it means the average amount of people tuning in on a show together.
I agree that Kyle Killen is unappreciated. Both Awake and Lone Star were well praised, but not enough people seem to be watching his shows.Comment

Re: Awake (NBC series)
I liked it but maybe I'm partial to the lead who was in brotherhood on showtime. Sad to say it's got EPIC FAIL written all over it because it's a NBC show.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Awake (NBC series)
1.9 is not bad for NBC, it's better than the last two shows to premiere in that time slot.
That being said, ABC and CBS were running re-runs last night, so those numbers are a bit disappointing considering that.
The pilot was great, and I will watch the show as long as it survives, but I agree that it's a concept probably better suited for cable. Considering how good it is, maybe if NBC cancels it, a cable network will buy the program, making it the second excellent NBC program to be bought by a cable program in the past few years (Southland).Comment

Re: Awake (NBC series)
As an example, I saw the trailer for HBO's "Lucky", did not have any interest, knew I wouldn't like it, yet I still made it a point to watch at least the first episode. The way they market their shows, and advertise, etc Makes it almost impossible not to at least try the show...if you have HBO.
I dont get that vibe from NBC, or anything else. CBS poured it on heavy for LOST in the Final 2 seasons, and, if Im not mistaken, still struggled a bit for viewership compared to earlier seasons.
If this show fails, its a perfect example that there is something wrong... great acting, original story...there isn't much more they can offer in terms of quality, yet nobody is watching it....why?Comment

I just caught a replay of this on Bravo. Great and original concept. I'm definitely watching."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Honestly, if I were not on OS, I probably would've missed this show completely. The reasons that these good shows are not being watched has to have something to do with the marketing of them.

Can't comment on commercials because I don't have cable, but the non-tv marketing for an original concept was zilch.
It's almost as if they set these shows up for failure.
Funny thing is the critics love this show. They've been raving over it for months. NBC never thought that would be worth plastering on the walls of subway stations?

I don't get the lack of marketing either. I hadn't even heard about the show until I saw this thread."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."
