    Windows 8

not to sure about this...i want to see this on a desktop but for now it looks nice on a tablet

    a rumor xbox360 support with Win8

According to our sources, Xbox 360 on PC will have a subscription fee (just like Xbox Live). However, when it comes to online gaming, it will use Windows Live Marketplace and as a result, PC owners will not be able to compete against console owners (at least in initial stage), due to plausible frustrations (mouse vs. controller).

      Re: Windows 8

I'm all for it, but didn't Windows 7 like just come out? I wish they released this a little later, at least so that my upgrade wouldn't seem so damn expensive lol.

I wonder if I can still use my student staff discount and get it at the bookstore for $10 now that I've graduated haha.

EDIT: Ugh, I hate the change. Anything that has to say "app" reminds me too much of Apple, and their success is running other companies toward the kinds of new innovations they do. Quite frankly, it's disturbingly annoying. Just bring back icons for the PC version, mmkthxbai.

I believe you can switch to the standard desktop, you don't have to use the metro UI. At least I hope so, if not I will switch to Linux full time.

App has now become a marketing buzzword for the smartphone generation. It's used with everything now.

Well, it's definitely been made popular by Apple (since "app" is in their name, after all). Just like the very PC laptop I'm typing on right now, my mouse pad is one of those kinds where the left and right click buttons are also a part of the mouse scrolling as opposed to being their own buttons. It's copying Apple just for the sake of copying Apple, it has no benefits and is annoying. This is just like the argument with Call of Duty and its perks. Just because people like it in Call of Duty doesn't mean it should be implemented in every game.

I like Windows because it's different from Mac.

Yeah I understand what you are saying and agree with you. The use the word app doesn't really bother me though.

It's just short for application. I think this looks fantastic. I'm interested in what they will do with Windows 8 and then what Google will do next.

Oh, I didn't mean the use of the word, I just mean what the word has brought to the table as far as this generation goes.

That UI looks like it was designed with Kinect in mind.

Agreed. It's no secret that Kinect will be coming to PC's sometime in the future. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a refinement in the 360 Dashboard UI to incorporate some of these elements as well.

I hate the UI. I hope I can change it. I like using my keyboard and mouse, it's more efficient and faster than touch. The ui could be good for tablets and stuff but I like my desktops to look like one

The final release will probably be a year from now at the very minimum, so its not like this is coming out in the immediate future. Should be a beta in the fall though for those that are interested.
