Re: Computer motherboard Manufacturers and quality

Also on the second link......you will end up spending more money in the long run.

1 It has no video card, just an integrated one. Can't game with it so you would have to buy a card.

    2. 500 Watt power supply is not powerful enough to run even a mid range card. So you will end up having to buy a new power supply. You need at least 700 watt power supply to run a mid range card.

Far as the mother board.......Crossfiring is like adding ram. If stuff isn't of the same speed, you will only be as powerful and as fast as your slowest card. Would be one big bottle neck.

So therefore you don't ever want to crossfire with an on board intergrated card. Just like you don't ever have various ram sticks of different speeds.

You want all of your RAM to be of the same speed. When you crossfire graphic cards, you want them to be the same exact card.

Unless you using the second card as Physx. However you can't Physx with an intergrated card anyway.

Very nice. I need to read up on Physx. What does that entail?

Thanks for the info. I guess I may hold out for another week or so, but I'm itching to pull the trigger right now, to have it in midweek of next week. There's nothing on TV, so I need something to do, and the PS3 or 360 aren't doing anything for me at the time.

Want some high quality graphic intensive games, ha.

This is a pretty good mid range card for $200.

        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150506

Even though it will work with a 500 watt power supply as a minium, it will be under powered. Always best to have at least a 800 watt power supply, that would future proof you for some years.

Here is another mid range card for $170

        http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102908

Slightly weaker but hey it is $30 cheaper.

That second one is $154 after MIR, so that looks to be pretty nice. I've heard that it's the exact same card as the above, just overclocked?

But would I still need "more" over the next year to run things like Skyrim at 100% maxed out 1080P?

Physx handles things like seeing individual dirt particles and debris flying through the air during explosions, rippling and droplets of water, individual blades of grass moving in the wind, etc. Basically a sole purpose physics engine handle by one graphics card.

This allows your CPU and other graphic card to handle other stuff. Pretty cool concept that nividia came up with.

Can you only use it with nVidia or can you use it on ATI/AMD cards? Thanks for all the info brother.

By the time that game comes out, the price of the GTX 580 card should be down to $250 or less. It is currently $500, however newer and better cards come out every month.

But you definitely want to get in on the GTX 500 series of cards. They are powerful. Hell they might be on the 600 series by christmas time.

Only with Nvidia since they own the rights to it.

Good deal. So a 580 should be plenty for Skyrim and whatnot coming up in the future? I know it'll play 2k12 when it hits, butI definitely want to make sure Skyrim and everything looks immaculate.

I'm going strict PC gaming until the next gen consoles come out, unless there is something that I HAVE to have on PS3/360. In the meantime, they'll continue to collect dust.

So nVidia is definitely the card that I want to get, if not just for the physx portion of it. Will I need 2 nVidia cards, one for strict physx and one for regular usage, or will 1 suffice?

You will need 2. And just assign the other card as the Physx card.

Holy hell. That's going to run a lot of money, if I'll need two nVidia cards just to have physx. I'm assuming I can grab a 580 or whatever for just above $200, does it matter what the second one is? Can it be a cheaper $100 card, or does it have to be a DX11 card w/ the same specs as the first.

                        I'm clueless.

Re: Computer motherboard Manufacturers and quality

I totally disagree with needing 2 graphics cards. A single 580 is more than enough to run games on their highest settings and a dedicated PhysX card just isn't worth it when every Nvidia card comes standard with it.

2 GPUs just consumes more power, heats your computer up resulting in the need to increase your cooling fans for the PC. Unless you're an extreme gamer or really don't care about spending money, dual-GPUs aren't needed.

CrossFire and SLI cannot yet be called 'hassle free' by any stretch of the imagination. This is because whenever a game or the drivers don't support CrossFire or SLI properly, performance will not necessarily scale well enough to fully utilize both GPUs. Furthermore, there are various quirks which both SLI and CrossFire bring with them, including strange framerate drops and the very undesirable 'microstuttering', which is explained in more detail in this article.

If I go PC for BF3, I'm going to wait till the game comes out this Fall and get the most bang for my buck.

Honestly that looks like a PC he bought off of Ibuypower or Cyberpower website, he didn't like it so therefore he selling it on Ebay.

It has no OS either. So you will have to buy a graphics card & OS. So after all that the total would be around $800.

                                Considering Windows 7 is $100

                                Graphics card $200

Plus all the taxes and stuff
