Re: Computer motherboard Manufacturers and quality

Eh, technically I have Win7, have my student copy, so I have the OS taken care of.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. This seemed much simpler when I was younger,ha.

Thoughts? Power supply is only 550, but I'm not even sure that I'm going to go "all in" on this build. So add a decent graphics card, and at $550, be done?

That is pretty damn good. Just make sure you check the power requirements of the graphic card before you buy it.

Other then that I would add more RAM to it eventually, more RAM you have, the smoother things run. But that is a hell of a deal.

The tigerdirect barebones? I'm still looking for a way to save a little bit more, just in case but did sell my laptop, so it's not like it really matters. I'm thinking about grabbing another 4GB memory just for giggles. Throw in a midrange dx11 card, and play.

For a x6 core system, 8GB memory, 1TB drive, etc.. .seems like a great deal.

Here's a great link where they will help you with your build and budget

Not a prime member unfortunately. I do have a free ship voucher from tigerdirect though, so I'll probably just go with the system I have listed up there. Still not 100% on it. I HATE making these decisions, ha.

What did your build end up like? Cost? Thanks for chiming in.

I've been saving since last summer and I also added my tax return for the build..the cost went up to 1000 plus, I already had an os, monitor and m&k so the expenses went to the guts of the machine...

I was planning on building my machine around bulldozer which unfortunately was delayed till september...i felt I waited long enough and like you, picking parts for your new baby can be painstaking but worth it...

Are you going to build it yourself? I had my brother build mine and I'm glad that everything started up smoothly with no problems...

Re: Computer motherboard Manufacturers and quality

Yeah, I'm going to build it myself. I just found a pretty nice AM3+ Board, so Bulldozer can slide in when it finally gets here, I'm going through the process of custom selecting things from newegg right now. I'm hovering right below $500, but haven't gotten a few components just yet. I'll update in a few with what I have found.

I really don't care about the case, I'd rather have a smallish case, even with heat, it'll be in a well ventilated area. I'd technically love to have a HTPC case, but don't think I can get everything in it.

Alright computer gurus, knock my build. All I'm lacking right now it looks like is a videocard, and optical drive (which I'll recycle from my current build).

I will most likely either use my Win7 Student edition, or maybe even roll back to XP x64. Thoughts?

That's a big negative ghost rider. Just haven't powered either of them on. We moved a month and a half ago, and I haven't even unpacked the 360, the PS3 is hooked up, but nothing even remotely interests me at the moment. Just 2k11 on PC.
