    Re: Weeds Season 7

This has been argued ad nauseam and the consensus was that for serial TV shows after the episode airs spoiler tags are no longer necessary. Only things that need spoiler tags are things that haven't happened yet, including things from previews. Otherwise the entire thread would all be in spoiler tags.

If the episode has aired we generally allow anything regarding that episode. Been that way for a long while now.

Movies have been treated a bit differently because they aren't watched the same way a television series is.

If I haven't seen the episode I can still come in the thread to get general impressions of it with out getting plot points revealed. No different than a movie review or non-sports game impression threads. That's not to say you can't discuss plot points but guess what?

That's what the spoiler tags are for.
Look Im not trying to be a prick but be realistic here. If that was the case every thread about a show would be nothing but spoiler tags, and as CMH said below its different with movies. Perfect example, I watched 24 religiously but being on the West Coast I saw it 3 hours after the folks on the East Coast, those same folks would talk openly about the episode after it aired without tagging everything and I just avoided the thread until I had watched it. The rule was if someone wanted to discuss the preview for the following week then you tag it as some didnt watch the previews as they gave too much info away, everything else was fair game.

You making up new rules my man? After an episode has aired on any of these TV show threads its fair game to discuss. Look at any of the TV show threads if you think all of us are making it up. LOL!

Exactly. That has always been the point of the television threads. They are open to discussion about the past episode. Since shows tend to have overarching plots, it has allowed the community to openly discuss what's going on in the series.

Movies have mostly been used to provide reviews to members. There is no story to really discuss in preparation for the next episode, so anything covering the plot is spoiler tagged.

We realize that some people watch episodes much later than others, but we all have to understand that TV shows are more exciting when discussed. Limiting that discussion kills interest in a thread quickly.

What really sucks is I had to read the posts to know what was going on and I still haven't seen season five of Weeds. But, that comes with the territory.

Good to know this show is still going strong.

Show has been off the air for years, yet people still have the common courtesy to put plot points in spoiler tags to spare those w.

For some reason people are using spoiler tags. Now I'm not going to go through every tv show thread to find out who's using spoiler tags or not but there you go.

All right, everyone has had their say. Let's just move on and discuss the show.

                Thanks, guys.

Interesting preview for next week. Lights Out fans might notice Johnny (Pablo Schreiber). Wire fans might remember him as Nick Sobotka mostly featured in season 2 of the series. Good addition to the cast.

                    Interesting indeed.

From that preview, it looks like she still wants to avoid the fam.

I'm not sure which direction this show is going now, but I'll still continue to watch. I like the characters a lot.

I'm sure you saw the full video posted by AUChase89. I think you can see episodes on the TV Guide network as well. They bought the airing rights.

Two episodes in and Im not enjoying this season at all. Its taking forever to really get going it seems, the story makes little to no sense and the previews arent encouraging in the least. Hopefully it picks up soon but I have this gut feeling that Im gonna find myself saying this 6 weeks from now.

I have to agree. I was really hoping they might mix it up, but nope. Maybe it will get better but so far it's defnitely feeling like it's best days are behind it. Right now, the only saving grace is Kevin Nealon as Shaggy.

i have to agree. the best days of this show are behind it. the plots just get more and more ridiculous. here's a good article from New Yorker magazine...click through for a season by season breakdown.

A season by season tracking of its descent into uncharacteristic loopiness. View the Slideshow.

When Weeds debuted on Showtime in 2005, it was another well-received entry in the trendy subset of TV antiheroes, one in which a historically good type of character does a bad thing: In this case, it was Mary-Louise Parker's suburban housewife selling marijuana to make ends meet after her husband dies. Weeds quickly attracted a fan base that enjoyed the show's cheeky tone and flip take on suburban mores, but in season three, things started to go wrong. The show went from being a quirky family satire to becoming a loopy, out of control crime saga, with increasingly ludicrous plot twists. Murder! Arson! White slavery! We're two episodes into season seven, and out of habit we find ourselves hoping it turns itself around and gets back to its roots ... but with our hopes annually dashed, we find it harder than ever to muster optimism. Here is our summary of the season-by-season trajectory of the show, tracking what went wrong and how it could have saved itself … but usually didn't.
