I don't know Dunn personally and just vaguely remember him from the 1st Jackass movie. I never watched the other two. From what I've read he seemed like a good enough guy who just made some bad decisions and likely had a drinking problem.

As someone who has lost friends to both drinking and driving and another to being hit by a driver who was under the influence of prescription drugs, I can say that no matter how they died it still didn't make it hurt any less. I realize he could have killed others but, that fact is that he didn't. Well, other than his passenger who also showed poor judgement, as well. I'm certainly not one to come on here and say "good riddance", "I don't feel bad at all", "he got what was coming to him", etc. He didn't rape or murder anyone he just made a series of bad decisions that lead to his death. I can truly relate to what his family and friends are going through and hope that they can find peace in this difficult time.

I wouldn't even call it a tragedy. If you behave like that, early, sudden death is inevitable.

Hopefully something positive can come out and this and more people will make better decisions when it comes to drinking and driving. It is something so easily avoidable.

Not always but, there is a decent chance that if someone makes a habit of drinking and driving they will eventually pay the price one way or another. As for the passenger, I wouldn't say that he is to blame but, if you get in the vehicle with someone who is intoxicated then you're basically playing Russian Roulette with you own life. Neither showed good judgement.

Maybe the passenger shouldn't have gotten in the car? Both were at fault.

Right. He's not a monster, like rapists or murderers. He just made a terrible decision, and probably one of many, many times he's done so. It finally bit him and his friend in the ***.

But when you drink, and when you drive (in general, too, not only when intoxicated), you are accepting the consequences of whatever your actions may be. People don't take it seriously enough.

Couldn't agree more. A tragedy is when a young person dies of cancer, or is killed in a freak, unavoidable accident.

Ryan Dunn made a habit of driving drunk. This 'tragedy' could have been avoided by making a phone call and taking a cab. He owned a porche. I think he could afford a cab ride home.

Like you said, his end was inevitable.

I'm a huge Tigers fan and I was just as ticked off about Cabrera driving drunk.
I have no tolerance for any of it.

I know I sound like a jerk, but the streets are safer without Dunn on the roads now. Odds are he would have eventually killed someone else if he hadn't died like he did.
For anyone that feels sympathy for him, just imagine that it could have been YOU or a loved one that he killed. Suddenly, Dunn's not such a star and it's not such a tragedy afterall.

Apparently this guy got exhilarated driving drunk. He owned a fast car and took pictures of himself getting smashed, just before the accident.

Like you said, it was inevitable.

It was a play on words which clearly was calling Ryan Dunn a jackass.

He was a jackass and one that took his own life and his friend. Look, a lot of things in life are sad or regrettable but that doesn't make them any less stupid. His family and the people who loved him are in mourning, as they should be, and I'm sad for their loss. But, he was an idiot plain and simple.

It's all a matter of perspective though, of course to his loved ones its a tragedy. I feel terrible for them. They had no hand in his decisions and no control over his actions and now they have to be the ones to cope with it.

That said, its hard for me to feel sympathy for HIM. He was over twice the legal limit, a ridiculous amount to drive AND was going 140 on back roads. Driving that fast SOBER on those roads is dumb enough.

Don't mix people commenting on his actions with how anyone feels for those who have lost him, it's an argument that doesn't even make sense.
