Agreed on this. I think they really cared about Toy Story. That was their franchise. That's Pixar.

When Disney came in and said we're gonna make money off it no matter what, Pixar knew their prized property would be destroyed.

If it had been Cars, I don't know if Pixar would have cared as much. I think the whole handling of the Cars 2 film shows they don't care as much. I mean, they care, but they are willing to take risks because it'll make merchandise money and if the story suffers, not many in the offices will be disheartened.

Brave is another story. They are banking on bringing that Pixar gold to life with that one.

I read that Cars 2 was directed entirely on the iPad 2. Not sure how to take that.

But, hey, if you can try something new, take a risk, and know that your property will still reap in the merchandise rewards, you take it.
Well, this can be the case. Their best move would have been killing off Mater between sequels though, and his lead role is probably going to be the main reason for this movie's downfall in the mature audience's eyes. I mean, that dumb tow-truck being an undercover secret agent? Okay...

And I guess I can get over the cars being alive in their own and stuff, even though every other Pixar movie features humans in one way or another. Eventually it does seem to become too much, though. I don't think it's as appealing to people for the whole world to be based around vehicles.

Lol, that right there is a review I literally could care less about. A writer who hates sports, 3D and the Ice Age movies is clearly someone I have NOTHING in common with.

This movie may not be that good (which the first Cars wasn't really that good either IMO... the only Pixar series I don't care for), but that was honestly a terrible and off-putting review.

The writer just ended up sounding like a tool

Well the Ice Age movies were terrible. I agree with his points in Cars 1 though. Besides the sports thing I'm with him though. Lol

                  Man.
I despised the first Cars movie and STILL cannot believe they made a sequel to that one, out of ALL the other Pixar movies.

It was/is the only Pixar movie I dont like.
All the other ones I love.

Heres hoping to a sequel to the Incredibles...

I'd rather get a "real" sequel to the Incredibles than a "forced out/cash in" type sequel that Cars seems to be.

Don't hate them for it, though. If they needed to make Cars 1 and 2 to fund other projects and ****, be my guest. I just won't watch them or consider them when thinking about Pixar movies.

I know you're joking but how can you hate a movie that had a scene like this. I actually kinda got teary eyed at this part of the movie:

                            Easily, like this:

I stopped watching that scene at 1:34 with no desire to watch Cars, or the sequel, anytime soon.

Mr. Moviefone was on the radio and he said something that finally helped me realize what it is about Cars that I don't like - or don't get.

                                There's no people!

No, really, it sounds really stupid (I know), but every other Pixar film may have talking toys, robots, fish, rats, whatever it may be, but when in the real world, with people, they don't communicate with them. The toys are toys. The fish are fish. The rats are, well, they are rats.

But in Cars there's no people. They live in a world of living cars. And they have seats and doors for who? For WHO?!

It's driving me crazy right now. Like I said, it's stupid, but it is exactly what's bothered me about the franchise. I just never realized it.
