I think this movie would have been too graphic for Will. Will has never did a movie like this and that had so much cursing. I doubt Will will do that many R rated movies anymore. Only notable R rated movies he did is the Bad Boys movies, Ali, Enemy of the State. Most of his movies are PG-13. I wouldn't see him doing a movie like this unless he wanted to venture into these type of movies more

I can see him doing some scenes, but not all of them

Foxx was definitely the next best thing and really is the only other actor who could've did it justice. I really want to see a Smith/Foxx movie together since Ali.
I honestly cannot imagine Will Smith pulling off the mandingo part of the role.

Not at all. Foxx was, without question, the best option to play Django.

Seen this movie yesterday, best movie I've seen in a while, pure entertainment, it got an ovation at the end! Samuel L. Jackson was hilarious. The only nitpick i have about this movie is that i wish Jamie Foxx spoke with a more southern accent or had a more signature/bad *** sounding voice.

It was one thing I did noticed. Besides his character not knowing some words, his character had great grammar. I think most of the slaves spoke regularly for the most part. Wasn't a big deal, but something I did notice

              Re: Django Unchained

This movie was absolutely fantastic. I am not one to frequently watch the same movie in theatres twice, but I will make an exception here. Excellent movie throughout and it was littered with 5-8 "Yes! Oh my god, yes!" moments where people getting their comeuppance has never felt so freaking legit. So many points made me smile, nod, and think, "Oh hell yeah." Slave owners are such ready made villains, particularly in the manner Tarentino created them.

Also, to agree with others here, I'm not sure I would have altered a single part of the cast. All the characters played out wonderfully. I cannot imagine Jamie Foxx not playing Django. I'm also thinking about working "Good cold evening, gentlemen" into my everyday vernacular.

Wow, thanks for mentioning that. I hadn't heard such a claim until you brought it up so I did a quick search and as you said, it was quite real indeed. http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/2013-g...201237591.html

I always hear the Leo DeCrapio jokes and I swear, I don't understand them. Phenomenal actor and I'm not surprised he would stay in the zone and even use that hand as a prop.

Leo has solidified himself, firmly, as the best actor out there right now in my opinion.

There's some very talented actors coming up, though. He's definitely the best of his generation.

Interesting to learn about the blood. I caught myself wondering WTF happened for there to be blood and figured it was added during the scene.

Haha. I used that last night, and got blank stares.

I read as much as I could about the movie after I saw it Friday night. Crazy that he cut his hand and just kept going. That might have been my favorite scene. Leo was so good.

I want to see it for a third time. I just really enjoyed it.

I definitely agree that we seem to be headed to another very good period of strong actors - but for me, I've grown up with Leo from Gilbert Grape to Titantic to Gangs of New York to This. It's just incredible what kind of range he's displayed.
