    Disney/Pixar's Brave (June 22, 2012)

    First teaser:

    <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tYg0VgPy6Uk?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tYg0VgPy6Uk?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

    Synopsis:
Since ancient times, stories of **** battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Looks amazing. First Pixar film with a female lead. Don't think that really matters. The synopsis makes me believe it'll have all of the Pixar magic in it.

      Looks pretty good.

I did see Pixar is doing a Monsters Inc prequal... why, other than the money it will bring in?

Well, apparently Pixar is also planning to release two movies in 2013 when Monsters University releases. I don't think they've confirmed the second film, but it's expected to be an original story.

edit: They confirmed it is releasing November 27, 2013.

Monsters University releases June 21, 2013.

          Hm, that's interesting.

Would make me a little sad if Monsters University got the "Cars 2" treatment for merchandising while they focused on their original story for that year.

But more Pixar is nice, as long as the quality remains.

That looks and sounds pretty interesting though I thought with a title like Brave it might've been an old west story LOL

This definitely looks like the a Pixar Classic in the making.

Monsters University was supposed to be released November of 2012 along with Brave's summer release.

I don't remember reading why they moved it. I can't find any solid info either.

I do hope it was moved so that the story could be solid. I don't think there's a real big merchandising advantage to having Monsters around. Maybe plush toys? But, I think the story they have for this one is more along the lines of making a Toy Story 2 film.

Monsters University is supposed to center around Mike and Sully first meeting in school and learning to be scary.

I think that makes sense for that franchise since it already had such a large world we did not get the chance to really experience.

I think it's better than their other working title: The Bear and the Bow.

I feel good about the new Monster Inc. movie, seems like an original story along with a pretty good year difference between the 2 movies.

We'll see about this Brave movie
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

I think this could be bumped since this film comes out in a couple of weeks. Anyway, it seems that the film has been getting positive reception in the few reviews I've read thus far. I hope it convinces the Cars 2 haters that Pixar isn't going downhill.

Maybe it's just me but this movie looks a whole lot like How to Train Your Dragon? Different story line probably, but the characters look surprisingly similar.

To be honest, I don't see any comparisons between this and HHTYD. The only thing may be the whole medieval setting.

                              Re: Disney/Pixar's Brave (June 22, 2012)

That's the first thing I thought, but now I feel it's kind of ignorant to think that way just because they carry similar accents. HTTYD characters are Vikings, while Brave characters are simply from Scotland.

However, on that same token, when I saw the first non-teaser trailer, I wasn't feeling "Pixar" as much because of the wackiness of the character models and everything. It certainly felt more Dreamworks-ish. The most recent trailer, however, felt very Pixar-like.

Anyway, I don't recall people making that kind of comparison with A Bug's Life and Antz, or Finding Nemo and Shark Tale. Then again, maybe people did and I just was oblivious to it.
