Just downloaded a PNG file from CBS sports of the Bulls logo and it works...

EDIT: I created a Flickr account, and uploaded the photo there. And when I went to download it, it was saved as JPEG...

EDIT 2: Well when I downloaded it, I changed the extension to .PNG, and then I tried to make it my avatar and it said "This JPEG image has the incorrect file extension."

EDIT 3: So I think that it still thinks that it's a JPEG...?

Do you use the default OS layout? Just make the background color match te left bar over there.

Try to resize the image before you upload it to avoid OS resizing your avatar. I've had a LOT of problems doing that in the past (PNGs, GIFs, etc). If you allow OS to resize your avatar, it'll lose its animation or transparency.
