Luckily I saw it in an awesome theater. My PA2 experience was similar to that though. Not that bad though.

PA3 stuck with me all day. Just an awesome horror film. See it with a crowd (good crowd) as its worth it.

I had the worst midnight experience ever.
I dont even think I heard 60% of the dialogue in the movie.
I had no idea what was going on cause everyone was talking and being ridiculous.

I dont know how many times I had to tell these "hard" people behind me to be quiet.
I really should have gotten my money back...
Oh well. Ill catch it again when it gets to the dollar theater.
From what I saw, I didnt even like the movie. Hopefully seeing it again will make it better

Same here. Me and my wife were quickly reminded why we don't go to the movies that often anymore. Teenagers were talking throughout the whole movie, screaming during certain parts of the movie where there was nothing to scream about, laughing at the scary parts, and plain just being rude and obnoxious. Worst movie experience ever.

Another funny part was when the crowd before us was exiting the movie while we were waiting to enter. A bunch of teenage girls were really pissed and were telling people that the ending sucked. I looked at my wife and said that's a great sign because that more than likely means we'll love it.

The movie was great but the teens really ruined it for everybody.

Alright, guys. It's time to get into spoiler discussions with this film. I'll continue with what I said in the movie thread by leaving some spoiler impressions:

Like Saw, the one thing you always want to keep a keen eye on is how well this movie series works continuity into the mix. As we all know, the first film that was released chronologically takes place last in the timeline, and we move in reverse order. This makes it really interesting (I'll add onto this later), but unfortunately, Paramount is left begging their audiences to stick around "for one more" each time out as they crank 80 minute films into the theaters every October.

Audiences will become restless as this story grows into whatever it is that it wants to be, and eventually they'll either stop going and it will go straight to DVD, or they'll have to push the envelope with these films and quit playing the "safe" card, which would be awful if they breached that. One great thing about this franchise is that it's simple. I don't care if they do the same thing over and over, it works for me. They've already done certain levels of escalation (namely with the hauntings themselves), and this is where the continuity issue is thrown in the loop.

Why is it that, as we go backwards in time, the evil rises to greater feats? This means that the demon began by traumatizing its victims through telepathically forceful means, and shrunk down to the invisible persona that just left footprints on the ground and closed doors. It kind of leaves a big flaw on the continuity measure.

Also, this one was about witnessing the beginning, right? Well, speaking on a continuity level alone, I was simply going to write this film off as some minor events happening to the children, some kind of bigger ones happening to the parents, and then they all got psyche treatment and went on with their lives. No. Instead, the mother and step-dad are brutalized by "Toby," and now Kristi are to be wed.

Obviously it's not that simple as I sarcastically made that sentence, but the point is that we are left on this cliffhanger of: "What happens between 3 and 2? How are these girls wiped of their memory of these abnormal events occurring, especially with their guardians being killed?" There is an answer to be told in part 4, I'm sure. Unfortunately, audiences won't enjoy the cliffhanger. I'm left wanting more, but other people have offered three fastballs to Paramount, and they were left looking on the outside corner every time.

Don't get me wrong, I love the films myself. I'm concerned about its future, though. They kind of need to speed up the "prequels" to get back to everything after Katie takes Hunter, because the crowds might not enjoy the possession-like story line that it's beginning to carry (like most exorcism movies).

Now, about the last twenty minutes... holy crap, I was trembling in my seat the entire time! The real question is... what the ****? I guess we'll have to wait until PA4 to get a true understanding of what's going on (especially with the deal Kristi made with "Toby"), but do I have to wait another year for another 80 minute chapter? Damn, stop keeping me too intrigued like this!

That is why I never go to midnight releases. I couldn't imagine how it would be for a scary movie. I want to be locked into the film when I see something scary. I can put myself in a zone and it makes me a lot more anxious/scared. I plan on seeing it Tuesday late at the latest showing.

The "hard" people are always annoying in horror films.

Just got back from the theater and my jaw dropped to the floor with this one. Unlike the first two films, I was at the edge of my seat throughout most of the movie. The scares were well paced and then those final 10-15 minutes were a ride through hell.

Our theater was actually pretty good. For the most part there wasn't much talking and many screams from some of the people during the frightening moments. There were some laughs too during some of the wise cracks from Dennis and his buddy Randy.

Kind of crazy that we saw it coming with Julie's mom being into demonology......from the moment we saw her on screen, we knew something was up. The picture that Dennis had in the garage with all the cloven really also put the pieces in place. That was so damn creepy when Julie and the girls went missing at the end and Dennis runs right into the women in the garage. In the one scene where Julie's mom kept pressuring her to have more kids was a dead giveaway since they needed the boy to sacrifice. The kicker for me came at the end when Tobey was telling Katie that they needed to go to the grandma's house. When Julie said no, he literally destroys all the furniture and items in the kitchen. That was an awesome scene. It was his way to get them to the grandma's house.

The ending left me kind of empty as I kind of expected a little bit more closure or going back to the present time even if it was for a few minutes. Regardless of how I felt about the empty feeling at the end, this was a well constructed film and much better than the first two films.

Like Blzer is saying, you can only take this story so far without having people getting tired. I think what they possibly can do is maybe finish this tale with the girls growing up showing how the grandmother somehow wiped their memory clean and the events leading into PA1. Then bring things full circle back to present time with PA5 continuing the story with Katie and Hunter. That is the interesting tale now to see what or where she was going with him once she took him after killing Kristi and Daniel in PA2.

I thought the deal that Kristi made with Tobey was that she was to get the family to the grandma's house. At first she kept saying no, but then started trying to convince Julie.....but when that didn't work, Tobey went all ballistic on the kitchen.

There seems to be this pattern with this demon killing the man in the lives of the girls, but in PA2 it also takes out Kristi.

I now can't wait to see PA4 come next year, bring it on Paramount!

Saw this last night and I didn't think it was as scary as the last one (the only other one I saw in theaters). Part of it might have to do with the teens/tweens who kept yelling, giving commentary, and having their cell phones go off behind us. But nonetheless, I wasn't really scared after viewing this one.

The grandmother mentioned to the mom about having more kids and the mom said "no". The grandmother never liked the boyfriend/new husband (I never heard them really explain his role) so since there would be no boy in the future, it was time to focus on the girls future. Hence Toby getting them out of the house and into the Grandmother's home.

Now in the one trailer and the girls said it in part 2, the mother's house burned down at some point, which is when/how they lost their mom in the fire. So my guess is the Coven moved the Mom and whatever guy back to the house and burned it down. We may see that in part 4 or we may not, who knows.

It's also now obvious that there was a break-in during PA2 not the ghost at first. The Coven broke in, took the box of tapes and left behind the demon.

To the point of the demon was worse at first and now not as bad. Not true. PA2 took place before and then at the same time as PA1. Ghost was very tame in the start of PA2 and heated up. Went to Katie's home and also got much worse. At the end, killed Micah and went back killing everyone in Kristie's house.

The son was born, and Katie was the one who took him. She was more subjective, and Kristie had been controlled for so long that she didn't believe anymore.

My guess is PA4 will extend more of PA3, showing the fire, discussing their childhood, etc. Then PA5 will conclude this thrill ride with Katie.

How? I don't know, past stuff would be easy due to the videotapes. But not sure how Katie's story continues unless the Coven is videotaping it.

It's very wide open now.

Loved the last 15 minutes of PA3 though. When he walked in seeing the Coven and took off, OMG!! You can see it then though, Kristie was done with this. Katie had the demon in her and the Grandmother realized it.

Love this series, best horror franchise in a long, long time.

#1 and $54,000,000 later at the box office.......crazy to think that this film probably didn't even cost Paramount a lot of $$$$. I bet the women that played Kristi and Katie cost them the most considering how successful this franchise has been + that scene in the kitchen.

It's funny cuz the main girl went to SMU but this is pretty much the only major thing she has done.

Comes out on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow. I re-watched the first two today just for good measure. Unfortunately, these films kind of have a few major inconsistencies that I'm surprised they allowed to fall in, but as long as they can tie a pretty bow around it when all is said and done (without getting too extreme, as I see there's a chance that can happen if they try and push too many sequels), then the small continuity errors can be overlooked.
