        Madden12 all day.

I love how over time game with their own share of issues become better and better every year.
I really liked Madden05 also and had fun with it (as i did with many games over the years) but it wasnt a perfect game by far.

Just like MVP or 2K5. Great games sure. Some of the best. But the way people hold on to nostalgia, you would think they were perfection.

They forget all the arguing and same types of treads for those games existed at the time as well with the issues that they possessed.

And how many years in each series did it take for them to reach that point as well.

Games getting more and more realistic with features, people cry for realism, each piece of gear legit, authenticity, "little things". In 10 months tops development time, that is a tough task for developers to pick and choose things to add and adjust to the games.

Back in the day of those other games, threads we have now with requests did not exist like they do now. Us as a community can be out own worst enemy when giving feedback as well.

Editing and sliders have alleviated those situations, for me.

You could counter that logic and say not everyone uses a forum or should be forced to go there for info on a game. Social sites like Twitter and Facebook reach far more people than forums ever will.

no game is ever going to be perfect but out of all maddens one has to be the best and sadly and easily its 2005. Each new madden SHOULD be the best ever they should keep building on each one and they were doing that until this current gen came out and for whatever reason the gameplay took a huge step back and hasnt recovered yet.

We should instead be judging the current game in a series by is if it is fun NOW.
True, but you do have to consider Madden's inconsistencies this generation. They went down so many avenues and took time to focus on some weird peripherals like Josten's Ring, the bloated HOF add on, Weapons etc. At the beginning we were told the game had to be built from the ground up, so many things were taken out of Madden, but then they added so much fluff and looked away from key gameplay issues.

So my point is that when you have a game that is a yearly release, you have to have some disciplined focus where you decide, "this is our direction" and not put stuff in and take things out. That's why I say M12, while I enjoy it, should be further along.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I still own Maddens 06 through 08 on the PC, and yet I have no desire to play any of these thanks largely to Madden 10 and Madden 12.

Fair point, the direction of the Madden franchise has been very inconsistent, and has really only been in a GOOD direction since immediately after Madden 2009 was released, IMO.

This is the bane of EA producers. Execs need to be "sold" on the game you make, and most (not all) are looking for shiny new things to put on the back of the box, ie, fluff. Going into a meeting with VP's and saying that your main priority is "fixing key gameplay issues from last year's game" is a good way to lose your job. That's not to say these things are never addressed, but they're usually assigned lower priority.
