She was mentioned shortly in the episode with Lithgow (she is Barney's half sister who is away at college). I think the entire theory is only based around making Barney and Robin legitly the kids' Uncle/Aunt, completely ignoring that they also call Lily and Marshall the same.

Yeah the whole uncle/aunt thing isn't why I think that. It's more the whole who else would be at the wedding that Ted wouldn't have already met unless they go with some random person like a caterer or something.

It could be any number of people. Have you ever been to a wedding where you knew every single person there?

I wonder if the writers/producers even know who the mother is. I'
M sure they have an idea but it would pretty easy to change on adime.

No but I've never been to a wedding of 2 of my best friends who I've known for several years including dating the bride either.

Seriously unless it's someone Robin knew in Canada or one of the random women Barney banged, who else would he there that Ted wouldn't know?

Co-workers of either of the two, relatives like cousins, etc. I do think the Barney's sister theory is an intriguing one though, would certainly be an interesting angle.

This just adds to the theory it could be her since the mother was in the class Ted mistakenly went to his first day of teaching.

I don't think the writers probably do know. It might be done just to prevent spoilers from happening(since if word gets out on who the mother is,well before it even happens, that'll ruin the ending to the show).

They might just be given notes on what to do and not do when writing so that things don't contradict when Ted meets the mother.

I'm sure the creators know who it's going to be and how it's going to end. They were prepared for the show to only be one season from what I recall.

Also the kids ted is telling the story to have got to be born in a few seasons time so it can't go on forever

Well, we know from the trilogy episode that Ted's daughter is born in 2015. Which means the mother is pregnant for a hypothetical 9th season finale.

Jason Segel to quit How I Met Your Mother after Season 8?

In an interview with Austrian website kurier.at, he is reported as saying, "It's great to do some 'Rated R' stuff again, because I've been playing the nice guy for quite a long time now. That's why I'm gonna quit How I met your Mother after the eighth season."

If this is true, then this pretty much forces Carter Bays and Craig Thomas to make this upcoming season the final one, doesn't it? There's absolutely no way they can continue without one of the main cast members.

I love the show but I'm glad. It's being drawn out too much. Just tell us who the mother is already.

I can totally see why he would want to leave, he has crossed over to films and has been pretty successful. He also writes alot and has out grown this show. I think we may find out this year but there will still be a couple more years of the show.
