You guys are forgetting the network airing this also airs Family Guy...

They can DEFINITELY get away with the same stuff....lol

Im not worried about that, I just want the cast to be decent.....

ALL the Wayans should be available right? lol....

as a matter of fact, pretty much the entire old cast outside of Carrey and Foxx should be good to go.

Good comedians find a way if they are good. Sure they can't cover the over the top material that was possible in the 90s but good comedians still make people laugh today.

FOX messes up a lot of programming but this is the best network to carry this sort of sketch series. Other networks won't allow anything edgy and cable will suffer from small ratings.

Mad TV for a time was the edgier version of SNL. Imagine that being replaced by a KIW scripted series.

Re: Fox to reboot "In Living Color"

I'm of two minds about this, on the one hand WOOHOO! but on the other hand they can't possibly be as over the top as they were in the '90s and really a show like ILC was of its own time. Why mess with something like that?

I guess the good thing about this though would be the possibility of launching the careers of new comics like they did back then.

I guess we'll see. I will agree that the remake/reboot craze is getting a bit tired though I know of one show that's getting the reboot treatment that's getting a TON of buzz at least from the old fanbase and that's DALLAS. Mainly because it's more of a restart than a reboot. It's almost a continuation of the old series except focusing on the younger cast while having the older guys on the show as well. If other shows were rebooted that way maybe they'd work?

So my advice to Keenan Ivory Wayans is to have a few of the old cast drop in if not be outright regulars if the new ILC is picked up as a series.

I could see a first episode cameo by Carey, but I doubt he'll be in it for the long haul. The other guys shouldn't be too busy. Jamie Foxx probably sees himself above all this.... always seemed a bit full of himself.

There is NO way they would or could use the original cast.

Guys like Jamie Foxx (not an original cast member anyway) and Jim Carey have made too much money since then.

The rest of the cast is too old to pull off a weekly sketch comedy to attract viewers.

They would have to use incredible up & coming comedians/actors with some heavy writing.

I don't think there's a way possible for them to pull this off.

Someone like Affion Crockett would be better in a role where he's not a lead guy. But FOX messed up and gave him a shot of his own.

I just think with the state of TV nowadays and reality TV and the Chappelle show withdrawal that everyone's going through...they would have to come with something out of this world for it to be a success.

I just don't see it. Especially under the same name. Keenan's a genius. But this is like Jordan in a Wizards uniform.

Hell Disney already has a kid version of In Living Color and that show is one of the highest rated shows on Disney. So maybe that is why Fox thought it was a good idea to remake it.

It is called "So Random". Basically nothing but a kid version of In Living Color, even the way they end the show is just like ILC.

They're not bringing back old cast members as regulars.

From the link in the OP:

I hear it was Wayans’ idea to revive the popular sketch comedy series with a new cast.
Maybe some of the original members will make cameos though.

I think Jamie would definitely be up for this.

I think that's fine so long as Wayans makes final casting decisions and no dumb exec is stepping on his toes.

I have faith in the guy. He took chances on people no one wanted to give a chance to and a lot of them became big house hold names including, as others have pointed out, Jim Carrey.

There's gotta be a good set of people out there ready to take on this opportunity and impress.

Thats part of the reason why i'm interested to see what its like. The original ILC started with no name comedians and made them into household names, and a few into superstars so to speak. Interested to see who steps up to the plate.
