        Re: Transformers 4

I just seen the new Transformers film, There is so many characters missing and replaced with new ones such as Bullet?...

This series has really lost it's story and is very very much the same sort of style story telling as the previous movies.

just about everything in this movie explodes, Mark Wahlberg doesn't quite fit aswell as Shia LaBouf...and probably the worst Irish accent i have ever heard in my life and im pretty sure towards the end he was speaking with an American accent!

Planning on seeing this Monday with the kids and wife since I have off next week. Will catch a matinee showing. Not expecting anything different than the previous movies. My kids and myself find them entertaining so i hope it is enjoyable to watch.

            Re: Transformers 4

Saw the 3D showing, which all told was worth it (for all the films people always say aren't worth seeing in 3D).

It had pros and cons the whole way through. From the opening few minutes, you start to feel like there would be a completely fresh take on the franchise. In some ways it really was, and in other ways it maintained "same ol'" status. The new storyline and characters were welcomed for a moment, but it kind of didn't matter once the Autobots started coming in and doing their thing.

Speaking of which, and you'll notice this... I understand their intentions and motivations, but I thought the Autobots were just far too brutal, disregarding, and inconsiderate in this one. It was an "out of character" feel to me with all of them, especially Optimus and Bumblebee. Didn't really help that... oh yeah... there were so few recognizable Transformers from any of the previous films.

Sure the movie was long, but I didn't care. Only Revenge of the Fallen felt drawn out beyond repair. This one had a tiring midsection though IMO. There were just a lot of times where I didn't feel the plot advancing. Effects were very nice. I wish there was more transforming in general, especially during fights. They did it a lot in TF1, and I think that is a part of why I liked those fights so much.

Anyway, after leaving I really did get this feeling of "Been here, done that." I would appreciate it if someone took over for Michael Bay. I can tolerate him more than others, but like I said I've seen it all before in the same way. Plus, this movie just wasn't funny unfortunately, and that's not to say they went the straight serious route either. I laughed a couple of times, but all of the other three were much funnier. At least this wasn't as uncomfortably unfunny at times either, though haha.

Decent and the best action sequences behind TF1, but kind of on that same path that TF2 and TF3 was on all told. TF1 still stands as king by a landslide. I won't be eager to buy this on Blu-ray ASAP (got TF1 immediately, TF2 just a few months ago and TF3 the Christmas it came out).

By the way, did anybody else feel like Kelsey Grammer sounded just like Peter Cullen at times?

As a HUGE Transformers fan as a kid (the animated movie of my youth is still the best, IMHO) I'm ready for a reboot of the franchise.

Like all the other Transformers movies, I didn't hate it but I didn't really enjoy it either. I was ready for it to end part way through. I think the franchise could be amazing in the right hands.

                  Re: Transformers 4

I really enjoyed the first and third Transformers movies. They were not the greatest films in the world, but they were entertaining. This one just seemed to drag along unnecessarily. Just one overloaded fight/battle after another. During the last 45 minutes I was hoping an alien battle gun would fall from the sky at the drive-in so I could help them get the whole thing over.

Also, I'll agree this one was missing a lot of the humor element that the others had. The attempted father/boyfriend jokes got stale really quick.

                    Summed the movie up perfectly!...

I personally didn't think that Kelsey Grammar sounded like Peter Cullen but then again i wasn't really paying attention to it either at the time...

Not terrible, but nowhere near as good as the first. To sum it up: too long (should have tightened up the plot to cut 20-30 min off) and too much like the last 3 movies. Not in a hurry to add this to the collection.

Oh yeah, plenty of lens flare.

                        Re: Transformers 4

I enjoyed it. To me it was easily better than the 2nd one and might be better than the 3rd as well. It was a little long, but that seems to be a continuing theme.

Parts of it did confuse me though, but that might just be my lack of knowledge of the Transformers universe.

Also didn't really like some of the new additions to the Autobots, I liked the old ones so much more.

IDK. As for the movie, I liked it a hell of a lot more than TF2, but it felt reasonably the same. I just wish they had the same characters as the cartoon or even the same character from movie to movie.

My theater never impressed me with the sound one way or another, so I guess I just wasn't in that great of a theater to really notice anything good or bad. It was all just ho-hum for me, and I know it could have rocked me with the right system. However, judging by your comments it might have sounded pretty dynamic for the worse.

In fact, there was an action scene where I thought there was a sick rumble, then I realized that was the train going by (because I felt the same rumble during quiet scenes as well).

Might have been the theater. It was so loud where I saw it they blew out one of the speakers midway through it.
