Re: What's good to watch on Netflix
So there is a movie I saw a few weeks ago and I just noticed that it is now on Netflix.
It is called "They Look Like People."
If you liked Babadook and/or It Follows you will probably like this movie. Not that it is a similar story at all to either of those movies, but it is a very low budget, no "real actors," not so much focused on cheap loud noise/jump scares quite as much as your regular "scary movies."
There are times when you watch it that you may be a little put off by the amateur acting and "indie-ness" of it all, you might feel like you are watching a college kid's senior project, but there are also a couple moments in the movie that are expertly crafted and are wickedly tense/borderline terrifying.
There is heart to the story and meaning, there is thought behind it all, and while I wouldn't call it a great movie, I do think it is worth a watch.

I am loving Star Wars Clone Wars. I love all the little backstories and skirmishes. Really well put together. Some great battle scenes too. Just adds even more depth to the franchise.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: What's good to watch on Netflix
Thats funny, he could probably get away telling people hes adam sandlers brother or something, get some tail.
Ive been told I look like Ben Affleck, I dont see it, and even so I probably do not look as much like him as your friend does Sandler. When I moved into my house, I would frequent a local store, and was in there one night, and one of the employees mentioned to another that "that guy looks like Ben Affleck" and they go "Yeah, its his cousin.", so this apparently spread to the rest of the staff, so it was apparently a "thing" when I went in there, that everyone would be saying "oh thats ben afflecks cousin, oh my god" I was oblivious to this, but apparently one of the ladies there, thought my wife saw them snickering one day, and came clean told her the whole story, and then she told me. I was shocked that I didnt notice anything.
Goes to show you, people will believe anything lolComment

That's hilarious. And likewise, Max doesn't see the resemblance to Adam Sandler either, but people have been telling him he looks like him since he was in high school basically.

But....
I watched this movie this past weekend after seeing you post it on here and it was just flat out terrible.
I would honestly like to know what you liked about it?
The acting and storyline were just horrible! The scenes just didn't mesh together right.
One of the worst movies I have ever seen. My GF watched it with me and she left the room after the first hour because she also thought it was so bad.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

I tried to give a warning about the amateur acting and production value of it in my original post, but I probably didn't didn't do a good enough job of that.
It's basically an all-amateur project. It's about as low-budget as low-budget gets, and that can definitely be off putting.
I did appreciate the story. The movie is basically a metaphor/commentary on mental health and that's a subject I have a deep personal connection to.
But yeah, I can't sit here and say it's a great movie. It did receive generally positive reviews on its run through the indie circuit so I'm hopefully not the only one who got something positive out of it.
I think I eluded to this in my original post, but I'll say it again more cleanly. It feels more like you're watching an art student's senior project than a fully fleshed out film.Last edited by The JareBear; 05-23-2016, 01:30 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Don't worry bro, getting put down is something I have become accustomed to lately (I'm kidding, for real, you didn't put me down at all).
