Not sure if I want to go Trade paperbacks, as they come out quicker, but only cover 6 issues at a time and have no cover art of if I want to go with the Hardcover's, which covers more issues, but come out less frequently. Trade paperbacks are cheaper, but I don't know...
Sounds like a good time to start getting the montly comic.

I am still at the beginning of vol2, so I've got a lot to read, but I've bought issues 94-104 of the comic. Haven't read them yet, but I will get caught up over this 2 month break.

Dookie: Also reading the "Rise of the Governor" and "Road to Woodbury" novels would be a good read over the break.

Started Rise of The Governor a little while back, never finished.

Now I'm torn if I want the physical copies of the volume or just go digital which is about $2-$3 cheaper.

I like collecting the comics, but what's great is that they've made this accessible in so many ways from the copendiums, to the TPBs, and comics...

Was re-watching season 1 and the walkers in season 1 - at least first two episodes were smarter than now. They used a brick to break department store windows, tried to climb up ladders a d even climbed over chain link fences.

They obviously tried to dumb them down more as the series progressed. Which is how I'd rather them be.

For real. I just search the channels endlessly trying to find something to watch and I usually just go to bed unsatisfied.

This show was literally the only reason I was watching cable television.

I'm just biding my time till Californication comes back on. My wife watches food network now since the show is on histus so I'm usually on the net or watching anime or something. Once it comes back though we're both right there watching.

I gotta say something about this Michonne chick because she might just be the worst character I've ever seen on screen.

I really do not get the love for her. At all. Maybe I need to read the comic, but this is the show and her character in the show is ridiculously painful to watch. I shouldn't have to read the comic to "get her."

I know I'm a week and a couple days late on this but 1. I just watched last week's episode and 2. It looks like you guys need a good argument in here since the break is driving you all loco.

My issue is how Michonne behaved to the Governor, which I think was completely unnecessary and left me asking, in the words of the immortal Stephanie Tanner, "how rude?"

Here is the interaction between Michonne and the Governor since they met.

Michonne watches the Governor put a bullet through a dying soldier's head. (This the Governor explains by telling her and Andrea that the dying come back as the dead. Point Governor).

                      Michonne is captured by Merle.
                      (Unnecessary, yes. Point Michonne).

Michonne is cared for, and watches Andrea heal in a make shift hospital run by the Governor (in here Michonne questions why she's being held prisoner even though the Governor and his men are tending to her wounds. Double points to the Governor).

Michonne wants her weapon back. (To do what with? Push).

Michonne is given a home - something she hasn't had in at least a full year- warm food - a full year also - and safety from the zombies. (Governor all out here).

Michonne steals her sword, kills some zombies and is reprimanded while acting like a child who didn't do anything wrong in someone else's home (Governor with the point).

Governor lets her leave. (Point Governor).

So in a full half-season of The Walking Dead, Michonne has acted like the supreme ******* bitch that she is and in completion comes back to Woodbury and both kills the one thing the Governor loves (his zombie daughter) and stabs his eye with a shard of glass, effectively making him disabled.

                      ******* alert. Seriously.

What did the Governor do wrong while Michonne was there? So the guy kept a few heads on display. Who cares? Michonne kept two zombies with severed arms by her side. Apparently, one collection is worse than the other?

And in his worst act that Michonne is completely aware of, he keeps his zombie daughter (who is harming NO ONE by the way) in a cage for himself because he wants to hold onto the one thing he loves.

Oh, man, this guys is absolutely disgusting. Sure glad Michonne came onto the scene to stop this menace.

Sure, the Governor killed those soldiers and took their supplies. But his act of violence is balanced by his care for the people under his watch. Is it out of the realm of possibility that he did it to protect his people? Have his actions not warranted that belief and understanding?

Why is Michonne running around doing this crap and supposed to be adored by fans? She has got to be the most villainous hero I've ever seen. And because her actions remained unexplained, I can only brand her as the worst character in television, for at the least the year of 2012.

                      What utter crap she is.

Basically what I'm trying to get at is the villain and the hero are backwards this season all while the writers are acting oblivious to it.

They have tried to make the Governor a villain we the audience can root against and yet have done nothing but make us sympathize for him.

Michonne is supposed to be the hero that alerts the camp to his wrong doings but all she has done is act like the prototypical villain by creating wrath everywhere she goes.

The writers continue to push Michonne as a good guy. They are force feeding us, but I'm not buying it. She's no hero.

The real problem is it makes me indifferent as a viewer. Throughout the gun fight I wanted no one to die because I didn't believe anyone was more on the right or wrong. That leaves the scene anti-climatic. It left most of the plot empty for season 3.

Instead what we watched were two groups try to survive. That's cool. But the writers are trying to make it seem like its about one group trying to kill the other. Ha. Really? Why?

To be fair it seems like this show has painted the Governor in a more sympathetic light than in the comic while retaining Michonne's anger for him from the comic into the show. The way they've done this doesnt add up to why Michonne hates him like this. In the comic, its different; she has paramount reason to hate the governor and so does the audience.

I was holding out hope earlier in the season but I admitted that Michonne Govt interaction is not clicking logically earlier in the thread.

And I figured this would be the case. That's cool for the comic. But it's not fair to write a show and leave things open for interpretation by hoping people will get it because they read the comics.

Even if I read the comics, I wouldn't adore Michonne on the show because her actions have no motivation, unless her motivation is pure evil or displaced rage. Those are qualities you give prototypical Batman villains, not the hero of your show.

I wanted to comment on what you said about Michonne joining the group, but let it be because it was from an older episode and I did not want to open that can of worms. You were right, though. I would have absolutely flipped as a viewer if they made that unity simplistic.

Also, I do disagree with his intentions of killing the soldiers to protect Woodbury. I don't really think soldiers would attack a community if they came across one, and I don't think the Governor had that in mind either.
