Cool note - the guy playing Tyrese also voices the character of Coach in the Left 4 Dead 2 video game...

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 3)
I'm going to dare to guess one way or another and say that Gov. wants Merle dead. I mean, did you see/hear all the retorts and menacing looks he's shot a Merle over the last few episodes? And more importantly, Merle lied about Michonne, which not only lead to Woodberry being compromised, but Michonne personally offed Penny. So that was directly related to Merle lying. If Merle had told the truth, the Gov. would have been more prepared for Michonne's return, or any attack for that matter. Throw in the fact that Michonne returns with Merle's brother and that makes it even worse. And Merle brought the wrath of Rick down on Woddberry by bringing Maggie and Glenn into the camp. Basically Merle's definance led (by only 1 degree of seperation) to Penny's death and the loss of his eye and the end of his Woodberry. Gov gots to have no love for Merle.
If anybody is going to be the attempted "trojan horse" it's Andrea.
And the same could be said that he wants to extract revenge on Michonne and the "terrorists" that invaded Woodberry. What better way to do that by
sending one of his guys, Merle, to spy on the prison and keep a tally of what type of army and weapons they have so they can be prepared for the day they decided to try and raid Rick's camp.
You don't go into a war blind. You want to know what your opponent is capable of.
Also, Merle has been very insistent of seeing his brother. So it could also serve as a test to see which side Merle is really on and if he really is faithful to the Woodberry camp.
Not to mention the fact that Merle hates Rick and Glenn for what they did to him on the rooftop. Combine that with the torture and humiliation of Glenn and Maggie, I can't see him or Rick's camp just forgetting about the past and letting bygones be bygones.
As for Andrea, she's too stupid and emotional to come up with a plan to invade the prison.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 3)
Here's what I don't get...
If Merle and Neal were going to head back to Woodbury, and Michonne was on the run, running away from Woodbury, then how did Michonne and Merle end up in the same place?
Logically there paths couldn't have crossed because Merle would've just turned around and gone back the way he came, and Michonne would've perhaps stumbled upon the little strip mall where Glen and Maggie were.
Between the Lori botch and this, seems like the writing is getting kind of lazy.

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 3)
The comic is a lot more different compared to the show than I thought. I'm half way through the third set.--

I was pleased to find that during the last talking dead podcast they answered my right regarding the above and gave a plausible explanation.

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 3)
A little off topic - But I read the first 98 issues of the comic in about a 2 week span over my iPhone while my son was in the hospital (it kept me going at times). Since I kind of blew through them, I am wanting to go back and re-read them. I don't think I want to do the Compendium though. Too bulky and they only come out every three years. Not sure if I want to go Trade paperbacks, as they come out quicker, but only cover 6 issues at a time and have no cover art of if I want to go with the Hardcover's, which covers more issues, but come out less frequently. Trade paperbacks are cheaper, but I don't know...Comment

Re: The Walking Dead (Season 3)
Im thinking about reading the two books they wrote on the rise of the governor and the road to woodsbury. I didnt even know they existed.
The Road to Woodsbury's lead is a minor (or major depending on how you feel) character in the TellTale videogame as well as a character in the comic that I had glossed over.Comment
